Well I think seeing Gillis was trying to pry Bjugstad (6'4 a 3 rd line center ) and Theodore out of Fla , instead he took Colborne (6'5 a 3 rd line center ) and Reimer (who was practicing with the Canucks). |

I think Luongo will be elite till he's 40.
Just like many others.

Really good defensive games, a bit of a throw back. Hawks couldn't stop the run, but a good game. If I was a 49'ers fan I'd be more worried than a Seahawks fan, they don't look as dominant as predicted. |

He at the very least will still have 5 more years of elite status. |

The question remains....
Is he any good? - robin_steele264
The answer to that is an obvious yes.
His talent shouldnt be in question. Hes been a pretty fantastic and elite goalie for van for a long time.
Its not even the dollar amount thats a problem. Its just the contract length. Otherwise, gillis would in fact be getting a premium return for him.
if he (gillis) takes back a contract, people might be surprised at how much he actually does get for lu |

I seen Colborne and doubt he will be anything great. Reimer will probably back up Schneider this year only and be replaced by Lack next year. It is basically Luongo for a salary dump. |

Agree, colbourne to me is not fast enough to be anything other than a 3rd line center at best. Maybe a 2nd on a crappy expansion team like Markham. Reimer will always be a backup for someone. |

Bjugstads ceiling is much better than just a 3rd line center.
Not sure its just colborne and reimer. Not like either of those pieces are crazy valuable, but both are pretty decent assets. Theres got to be some real salary coming back if van gets both of them
That said, has colborne stalled? Haven heard much for quite some time. His value pretty low now?
At one point he was the main piece coming back for a very 'valuable' kaberle! |

Question for all the Leaf fans.......
If Markham does indeed get a team, would you switch your allegiance to them or do you just plain and simple bleed blue and white?
I live close to Markham, but because I've rooted for the Leafs for 40 years, I could never switch. |

Why would Gillis take a bad contract back when he could just put him on waivers.
Who would Bjugstad replace ? Sedin or Kesler? |

Cause hes also getting 2 pretty decent young assets.
I also added abit of a stipulation/question to the end of my original retort.
Might clarify my opinion a little better |

From what I have seen from Colborne he is invisible right now. I think Canucks would plan to get him into the gym and get him in game shape. His value as on right now is not high.
I agree if Gillis can get back two pieces of ok value not great he will trade. In the event of a bad contract coming back Luongo would be placed on waivers and playing in CBJ next year or whenever the NHL comes back. There will be no salary dump coming back. |

I never really thought of it like that.
I guess sedin long term, as hanks 32.
My point was bjugstads value is much more than a 3rd line prospect.
Almost a bluechipper IMO.
And its not like u dont want to have as many assets as u can just cause those spots happen to be full.
Turn around and move em if ya want |

I thought I read somewhere -- oh yeah, in an Esplan thread -- that he was going to quit in 3 or 4 years. Was I misinformed? |

Bjustad would be a great addition to a team below .500 .If you look at Fla , Bjustad would be the number 3 or 4 center on that team too .Fla should have took the deal.
Sedin and Kesler should be around for another 5 years and we have Gaunce in the wings waiting. We also have Lapierre and a step down also would be Schroeder. We can also draft another center or trade for an NHL ready center. |

I say the new CBA, however it's structured, will make a difference on where Lu gets traded. Toronto does make sense, but who knows. |
