Are you starting to figure out what has to change? So a fair agreement can be reached?
- MJL

Why does it have to change?

The Leafs don't think it has to change.

The Flyers certainly don't think it has to change.

You do know that the owner of your beloved Flyers completely disagrees with you, right?

How about July 2013?
- Atomic Wedgie

No, apparently, the rich teams are solely to blame for this lockout

You... you do know being a Flyers fan doesn't mean he finds Ed Snider infallible, right?

Sure we would. There's 30 teams in the League. The richer teams want to continue playing and making millions.
- MJL

Fixed. Do you get it now?

The funniest part of that is why even bother in July? The damage is done, the salary is gone forever. Who cares in July.

And in the latest public statement...........

D. Fehr says the players may not be interested in a slary cap!

Im so sick of this "Leverage" game being played by both sides........

I can see it now, Come January when betman starts to really threaten the season, Fehr will say that the existing Salary Cap structure is now off the table
and the players will only agree to a deal that includes a life time supply of Cracker jacks

The richer teams already give to the poor.

Try to keep up.

- Atomic Wedgie

Obviously part of the current negotiations is about increased revenue sharing between teams. I assumed that an informed person would be aware of that aspect of the negotiations. If need be, I can point you in the right direction to get some info so you can be informed on the details of the core issues separating the NHLPA and the League at this point.

You should PRAY that the players take the salary cap off the table.

The sh1t hitting the fan will be WAY more entertaining than the NHL could ever be!

I would love the players to do something like that and make this thing personal. The owners would obliterate this union.

If it didn't have to change, why are we in a lockout? go back and reread my posts. You'll see what I'm aware of. As I spoke of the unwillingness of the richer teams to share with the poorer teams multiple times.

Yeah you also blame the lockout on the richer teams... you know, the ones with the most to lose.

Once again, you've assumed too much.

The NHLPA wants to make it a part of the discussions.

The NHL does not.

Guess who is going to ultimately win this thing?

But that's only a loss of revenues.

It's not a loss of profits.

Some franchises right now are better off not having a season - they will lose less money.

- Atomic Wedgie

But a lost season will also mean a loss of profits for the teams that actually make money -- referred to in the world of business as "non-basket case teams".
I think those profits came to about $250 million last year.

The franchises that are actually carrying this league must be delighted at the prospect of losing that kind of profit so that Gary can fight for a % or two of revenue share. Does Gary work for these owners too? I bet they go to bed reassured that Bettman only needs 8 owners to veto any deal he doesn't like.
