They are not being payed by their current employer. I am not sure the NHL could stop them. - VANTEL
My original point wasnt even about the risk of injury. I dont think its fair that a guy in the CHL who's making 800 a week, and now doesnt have a job because a millionaire NHLer decides he wants to grace everyone with his presence in the Central league for 15 games.
Europe is mostly for the elite players, out of 700+ players in the NHL, there are more than 600 players staying at home not making money, eager to see the lockout end. - Symba007
But those 100 players who are playing elsewhere are keeping this lockout going, because they are getting paid.

past Xmas, the pressure on the PA from all those 3rd-4th line players who often have a 4-5 years NHL career will start...these guys are leaving something like 20% of the career earnings on the table if the season is cancelled.

I wish they'd start putting the pressure on the PA now........its a joke that this league is entering its 3rd lockout in 18 years.
Seeing how I live in Finland at the moment, yes I'm certainly interested.
Most NHL players who come here during the lockout are simply returning to their old/hometown teams, so I don't see that as a great injustice either.
The most interesting player in the SM-Liiga right now isn't even a NHL player, but Alexander Barkov Jr who's been really dominating and the kid turned 17 just this month. Future first overall pick? I'd bet my money on it.
Money. Turn coats. Bastards. Yes. Why are they making money? Shouldn't they be concerned about fixing the problems that we care about and supposedly they care about? You know? WE pay their salaries for (frank)s sakes. WE are the people that give them more money when someone else works out their problems. It's disgraceful and anyone that sides with these assh0les needs to have their heads examined. Honestly why most people from anywhere besides Canada does not take this sport seriously. Just when they get a leg up they cut their own throats. They did it in '94 when the Rangers(I hate myself rt now for this)won the cup and this sport was at a an all time high as far as people watching and here we are again. Ridiculous. The players need to fix the problems here rather than going over seas to make more millions. Absolute joke

This league makes an absolute mockery of itself. No wonder why they are last in line with sports in America. It's an absolute joke. Right up there with professional wrestling.

When i read fighting irish, my thought is football.......im sure im not the only one. No disrespect to their hockey program, but football is what comes to mind. - kindlyrick
True, true. I don't even know how their hockey program really is. The only reason I'm watching them is because Steven Fogarty's on the team.

Anders Lee......he's an isles prospect. He's a beast. Plays for Notre Dame
Brock Nelson still playing for North Dakota or did they sign him? - GOODPLAYA20
They signed Brock Nelson, he's gonna play in the A for bridgeport. Oddly, Anders Lee chose to stay in school and play for Notre Dame than accept an ELC. Ahhhh just another player who doesnt wanna play for the isles. Must be nice being a fan of a real team...

Well, technically no one roots for a "real" NHL at the moment. But whatever, I get to check out Boo Nieves and Brady Skeji to. I wish Kreider was still in college. Then I could watch him play on a regular basis to.
I don't care that they went over because they got locked out. I do care when comments are made that are threats they won't come back if they take a pay cut. Playing pro hockey is a privilege not a right and there are many that wish to be on their shoes.

The irony of all this is that the owners are trying to squeeze the players salaries that THEY signed off on....

yeah i care, i care that they are saying F U to the regular players that cant get contracts over there, i care about the spots they are taking away from euro players, i care that they say "we are united" yet they jump ship the sec they have a chance, they shouldnt be allowed to go over there as it is still somewhat their fault that there is a lockout
if the players/PA showed that they were being realistic and actually trying to negotiate rather than dilly dallying and doing jack poop before the lockout, and havent had a formal meeting yet since it became official, then maybe i would feel different, but they have shown that they dont care about the fans, or the game
all they care about is the $$$
its not just the players fault, its the owners too, but the owners have shown that they are more willing to get things done as their proposals (actual not the 1st which was to get things going and just flipped the % of revenue) showed that they want to get back to hockey more than the players

I Hate wishing bad things upon people, but it seems most people playing in the nhl are greedy and selfish. They fail in society.
Bring in contracts based on performance. Enough with the guaranteed 15 year contracts already.
this league has a bad people running it on both sides. I dislike Bettman and I dislike Fehr

I'm talking about the College hockey. You know? That sport they play on ice. There's nets, and a puck and 20 minutes of actual play per period? It's a great game. Unfortunately, the owners don't agree. - GOODPLAYA20

This from a guy who lives in Canada yet posts about the isles daily. Why dont you ante up.......then we'll see how positive you are. Very easy to be positive when you aren't spending 15 grand a year on tickets for a team that consistently promises improvement, yet doesn't improve. Newflash guy; Jesse Joensuu isn't improving the roster.
