He mistifies me to be honest, Romney says all this crazy poop and then he doesn't even say what he is going to do, he just says elect me and you will see.
If you guys elect him we may as well get rid of the internet and bring back steam cars, 8 tracks and vcr's. - MindFr3eak
I am all for it if he brings back sega genesis and NHL 94 as the main console/game |

In theory, sure. I can easily see a scenario where someone gets moved to a 2nd-tier market, the exchange rate goes to $1.12CN=$1US and the Canadian economy rolls over along with the U.S., and now the newly relocated team is losing even more money than it did in the U.S. - Irish Blues[where it would now be in better shape, even if it was still losing money].
Owners decide where a team plays. No owner has the power to tell anyone else "you must move to ______ to suit my/our needs" and no owner is going to relocate his team to some other location without some kind of guarantee that he's not going to be worse off as a result.
When you are loosing (hemorrhaging) money I assure you on one is looking for guarantees. ATL moved to winterpeg with no guarantee.

Atlanta also moved to Winnipeg voluntarily. Put together a list of teams you think should move and the places in Canada they should be moved to, and I'll point out the ones that may not work out. |

Gonchar and Malkin sign in KHL and there contracts run through to the end of the 2012-2013 season..So if a deal is reached are they commited to returning or can they stay and play out there contract with the KHL team? Is there any option for the players to do either? |

They almost always have opt out clauses to return. Even people who just didn't get an NHL deal in normal years have clauses to return if they are offered a deal. |

I don't think any one was saying that there shouldn't be voluntary. If teams aren't making money, or at least close to break even (possibly profiting if they make the playoffs) then there should be some major consideration for relocation.
- PHX is front and center. It's taken how many years to find an owner?? Really? And now that they MIGHT have an owner it's still in question..... having to get extensions to find financing?? (that doesn't bode well for the future).... having to jump through hoops with the city ect. PHX is still a gigantic black spot on the NHL.
The Islanders have probably the worst/most decrepit building in the league and cannot figure out how to get a new one. If they can't figure it out (they cannot make it work without a new one) they need to move. Brooklyn? Kansas City?? Seattle?
there are no doubt others FLA made the payoffs and still lost money.
Places in Canada that COULD make it work?? GTA #2 (Markham approved the building of a new arena/entertainment), QUE want one back, there was talk that Kitchener-Waterloo would be viable and Hamilton has tried for years (Both K-WL and Hamilton were rumored as destinations for JBalls attempts at relocation. |

If Phx moves the NBC deal is voided.
Hamilton is bigger than Buffalo and could easily support a team. Southern Ontario getting another team would boost league revenues and the cap to the point of crushing at least 3 more teams. |

There really is only one question. How long to we have to put up with Bettman?? How on earth it is that a bunch of multimillionaire owners cannot see that this guy is a joke is beyond me. I'd be willing to bet that not one of them would put up with him as one of their employees. So why do they let him control their investment? |

You think the owners aren't a fan of Bettman? Bettman isn't the guy making these decisions. |

My response to lockout = apathy. Who can really be surprised? It's a culture of entitlement, the players feel entitled to more millions, as do the owners.
The fan is only an underlying assumption of the business model. |

The contract they hold with the NHL. Well, not void but NBC would have the option to void it should they so choose.

How long?
As long as he wants the job.
He took the NHL from a $400M annual revenue league to a $3.3 Billion revenue league. Not to mention, the loads of cash he got owners from expansion team, and finally, a somewhat decent national TV deal.
That is why. |
