How many drafted 1st 3 years in a row? How many are in the most northern city in the NHL?
- Lahey

None, because we are only the second NHL team in history to have been that pathetically bad.... Impressive the vigour with which you'll defend a team with that distinction.

Yet you somehow think guys will just sign here no questions asked. Or you feel that they'll sign but we have to pay a premium which at this point isn't a luxury.

I think it's sad, sad excuse that people cling too.

I think we should be able to sign 1 - 3 quality support players without too much hassel... If we can't even do that they might as well fold the team.

And why would players (who have other options) choose a team that is "only the second NHL team in history to have been that pathetically bad" ?

Getting players to sign in Edmonton isn't as easy as you think...

The funny part is you guys will talk until you are blue in the face about how much talent is here and how good the team is going to be in a few years, but you don't think the players can see this?

Anyone with a functioning brain cell can see we've got similar top end talent to teams like the Hawks, Pens and Caps.... 3 straight first overall picks with a blindingly bright future

The guys you are proposing come here aren't going to be here in 3 years, so ya kinda moot is it not?

We have room for 1 d-man that's about it going into this year and there still a chance ST gets one or they find out they don't need one once the AHL year kicks off.

I tap out, you guys win. It's impossible to bring a quality NHL player to Edmonton.

It is far to much to ask of our GM.

It isn't too much to ask...but stop being blind to the idea that he has been trying but the players thsat will make a difference are not willing to sign here yet.

You mention about how anyone with a functioning brain cell can see how bright the future is in Edm...but realize how guys like Rosival choose teams with a bright present.

Go back and sift through those UFAs and see how many signed with the bottom 5 and Top 5 teams. I am curious of the difference in signing %.

You know what's funny, this all started by me saying he dropped the ball UNLESS he didn't want to come here.

You guys can stop bringing it up now, I realize not all players will come here.

I'm not asking for allstars, I'm asking for a couple depth players and I don't care how they acquire them or if it's "hard". When you make 7 figures your job should be hard.

Depth Players? We have those on D. What is needed is Top 4 Dman, preferably Top 2.

I wouldn't have minded Roszival because to be frank we aren't getting that top 2 so having a guy like him on the 3rd pairing could've been better than dressing Potter/Teubert/Peckham/Joey Moss

Many reports suggested he wanted long-term and more money, I told you that after you posted. And that he settled with a contender when the long term wasn't there.

Never said I told you before.

See I didn't "go on" about how Tambillini dropped the ball, I posted it once with the disclaimer that maybe he didn't want to come here and you guys felt the need to tell me 500 times that he might not have wanted to come here..... which I stated myself in the very first post.

There is also a big difference between wanting term/$$ vs not wanting to come to Edmonton, we certainly could have offerd more then what he ended up getting and still had a managable contract. Just like I don't know if Tambilini contacted him or not, you guys don't know if he flat out refused to come to Edmonton, or if he would have been open to negotiations.

Anyways, I don't really give a poop about Rosival. We've got a brutal defense, and we need at least one, prefferably two players to slot ahead of Sutton... I don't care who they are, or how they are aquired, just that they are aquired.

Rozival would have been a Top4 guy...Z was talking about a Depth guy, around the 5-7 spot.

Whitney, Smid, Petry, Nschultz, JSchultz are the Top5 as of right now...getting Rozival would fill the #6 slo by pushing one of those guys down. It would have created depth, not by being the depth guy, but by making someone else a depth guy.

You were told "500 times" because each time it was mentioned that he chose to not to go to the bottom feeder, you would tell us how good players do go to bad teams as often as good teams...

It is also correct that Rozival (the player in question) chose to NOT sign with a bottomfeeder...so correct in fact that he took lesser in term and money to go to a contender.

So do you believe that ONLY the Blackhawks contacted him? i feel fairly confidant that at least one team from the bottom 10 in the league contacted him...and yet look where he signed. Not hard to piece together.

And I will trust Lahey in that Rozival was looking for a longer richer contract than the one he got.

What I'm confident in, is that you don't know what his other offers were, ie if he took lesser term and $$ to go to the Hawks like you claimed.

Good for you...be confident, like I am. He was looking for more and took less than than. You have no idea either, and you are the one claiming Ebs was a coattail hanger, so ummm yeah...
