What gave that away.........his zero points last year? - kindlyrick
When Cam Janssen is putting up more points, it might be a sign to hang up the skates. |

XX knows more about hockey than you. A lot more. He is dead on about Matt Martin. Martin is a 4th line winger on most NHL teams right now. A good 4th liner that has value, but nothing more. |

I'd like to see Janssen and Gillies in a mean look staring contest. Gillies would win but it would be intense. |

No it wouldnt.......they had basically 2 players not playing to make up the cap floor. That proves that they would rather use that money that is guarenteed to make up the cap floor as opposed to bringing in actual rostered players to better the team.
I get it that you like to argue, but dont argue a point for the sake of arguing. Its bushleague - kindlyrick
that proves it?!!?
jesus christ, wouldnt the 20 or so other players that they ARE playing prove they are willing to pay playing players? |

It all depends on who crappy sticks MM with. I for one thought he should have seen time with JT last year. I also think he should be on PP2 parking his a$$ in front of the net. A guy like him who's tough to move and physical drains the dman trying to move him. Advantage isles... - kindlyrick
Over who exactly>? Parenteau who is top 5 in the NHL in assists? Or Okposo when the team was actually winning games in january and february? |

What are we arguing about..........YASHIN HASNT BEEN A PLAYER in years, yet they still pay him and it counts against the cap. Dipietro hasnt played a full season in 4 years and they still pay him and it counts against the cap. THE POINT OF ALL OF THIS, is that the isles are cheap.......they nickel and dime everything. See Ryan Jankowski, Bryan Trottier, the radio broadcast being cut, the list goes on and on. What are you arguing ?????? |

Can we not talk about PA please........what does it mean that he's in the top 5 in assists? Is he a top 5 player in the league? He was playing with two 30 goal scorers. Christ, i'd have a lot of assists playing with two 30 goal scoreres.
Im talking about the 2 years in a row the isles fell 20 games in a row. Hey, maybe im crazy, maybe they lost 20 games in a row and the lines shouldnt have been changed. But hey, what do i know... |

You didnt answer my question. Also, how did Tavares and Moulson score 30 each? Unassisted goals? |

Also over reading some of these comments about Martins contract bout how he may be asking for more money than people may feel he's worth, just to toss out a thought on the matter I haven't really seen anyone toss out there yet (unless I missed it) IF that is the case perhaps he may be doing that because if the new CBA has to roll back contracts again. kinda be messed up if he signed a 2 or 3 year deal now at what they feel is fair market value right now and then a fews weeks/months later it turns out that so called fair value gets rolled back, is that still a fair value now? Just hope that with whatever happens the team does the right thing and allow him to play if it goes past Wangs deadline rule, that is if he has one for this season with the way the CBA talks are going. |

The whole entire argument is skewed. Someone can get an assist from their own zone. A goalie can get an assist from an outlet pass.........whats your point?
Are you saying that without PA , Tavares and Moulson wouldnt have 30 goals? |

Ok I usually dont stray from teh Wolf Pack much but Matt MArtin is ok that is about it. I saw guys on here lobbying for him to play on the first line but seriously he is a third liner at the most. I can see teh guy scoring about 15 goals a year and getting maybe 30 to 40 points and nothing more. I would sign him to a million dollars if he dont want that then good bye. Players like him are a dime a dozen. |

youre very thick...at the times those deals were made, that showed they were willing to spend on players. eventhough they arent playing anymore doesnt mean that can stop paying them.

At the time they were willing to spend? Dude are we going back to 2001? Or are we talking about the Snow era. I thought that as islander fans we all understand that using anything Milbury era is a fo paux, and irrelevant nowadays. Or in your case, maybe its fopa...

Im not suggesting all 82 games, but when a team is losing 10 games or more in a row, changes need to be made. Remember when the isles put Andy Sutton in front of the net on the PP. If for no other reason to get it through some guys skulls that a certain type of play needs to be played. Conversely, it rewards guys like Martin who play hard night in and night out.

This is not going to be an earth-shattering negotiation. Regardless of how much money Martin ultimately gets, because of his RFA status and low offensive output, he is not a candidate to earn the type of salary that the isles would low-ball him on. They're not going to nickel and dime him. They don't need to. His salary will be low enough that it would be unnecessary to do so. - Jethro09
I agree with a lot you post but you might want to re-think this one |

PA was a great set up guy. I liked him and I am pissed that GArth did not trade him for something. His whole intentions was to leave the Islanders after the season. He played awesome and got his pay check. Will he be the same player on Colorado I dont think so. He will be decent but that is about it. I think if he really wanted to stay here he would have signed here |

I agree he is a 3rd/4th line physical player who hits everything in sight, fights and will chip 10 or so goals a year. I love the kid but he is what he is and there is nothing wrong with that. Every team needs a MM |
