Ryan doesn't want trade
11:40
AM ET
Bobby Ryan | Ducks
RECOMMEND0COMMENTS0EMAIL
Winger Bobby Ryan is singing a different tune these days in contrast to June's little ditty about welcoming a trade away from the Anaheim Ducks' organization. According to Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register, Ryan said the grumbly interview he gave earlier this summer was "a mistake and a slip up".
This is what the winger said then: "I gotta be honest with you. At this point, I don't care. Move me ... because it's just tough going to the rink every day knowing that if something goes wrong, you're going to be the guy moved."
This is what he's saying now (as of Wednesday): "I wanted to come back to (my home in) Newport Beach and come back to this team and this group of guys. Always. That was the No. 1 thing ... As far as I'm concerned, I'm a Duck and I'm coming to camp and will be ready to compete ... I'm here and I'm ready to go."
Ryan also made note of the great relationship he has with new-ish coach Bruce Boudreau and the rest of the coaching and training staff.
We get it; he was frustrated with being the subject of trade rumors -- on and off -- for several months. Know what? It doesn't matter. Ryan doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract, so the Ducks can deal him if they like. But they haven't yet -- despite proposals from several clubs including the Philadelphia Flyers. So unless GM Bob Murray is blown away by an offer once the new CBA goes into effect, Ryan will likely stay put for this season.

Uh huh...
more like they said.....
"Oh so you want to be traded, eh?? OK, we'll get Garth Snow on the line just to make you happy"
Then Ryan said "Ooooh guys I was was just kidding... I'm just tired of hearing all these rumors in the media.... I really love it here!! The beaches are so much better " |

Ok bet the house.........the plenty of people that understood it your way, would you please chime in?
Why dont you re read my post : Ask yourself this. Do the islanders have another Matt Martin on their team? How about in bport? The answer is no they do not. Cizikas cannot fight like MM and Boulton isn't as good of a player.
I would think that im above average with islander knowledge, and i would think you would know this. Being that the two other players i referenced were forwards (Cizikas, and Boulton), one would think the reference were forwards. Do you not think i would have thought of Carkner, or say Hamonic if I was referring to team toughness? - kindlyrick
I took it as ANYONE on the team or in bridgeport.... I don't think there is regardless of position... but i didnt take it as ONLY forward.

Its a HUGE deal that the guy who led the NHL on the islanders was not offered an extension. I dont care what anyone one here says. For a team like the islanders who cannot put for a consistent effort, to have the most consistent hitter in the league on their team........he should have been awarded an extension. Agree or disagree, thats how the world works.
I didnt say he should get a lucrative contract. Show me where I wrote that. I said 1.5 for 3-4 years to me should suffice (I didnt use the word suffice before Letsgoislanders copies and pastes my exact verbage). Knowing the isles, they probably offered him a 50k raise, and a free dinner at Rothmanns (minus wine). - kindlyrick
That's where you are wrong, he has been offered an extention.. 2 in fact. |

XX knows more about hockey than you. A lot more. He is dead on about Matt Martin. Martin is a 4th line winger on most NHL teams right now. A good 4th liner that has value, but nothing more. - Isles316

I agree he is a 3rd/4th line physical player who hits everything in sight, fights and will chip 10 or so goals a year. I love the kid but he is what he is and there is nothing wrong with that. Every team needs a MM - Vukota
