Any potential for Rocco to gain an inch? I just can't see a 5'6" player lasting long.

I'm expecting the kids to step up this year and bring us one step closer to the Cup.
- Daman

Edmonton gets a lot of attention for all the young talent they have and they do have a lot of excellent top end talent (Hall, Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins et al) but I think they lack some balance in their roster, they lack quality on defense and in net. I still believe Florida is set to be a better team overall and for a longer period of time. They have more balance in their prospects and they have some good veteran talent to help their kids develop. I think the Cats are 3-4 years away from seriously contending, but they will be there.

Edit: No disrespect intended to the Oilers or their fans, you guys will have a great team as well.

Their prospects are pretty much above average at every position.

It's a comparable I'm not saying markstrom is going to be as good as Henrik Lundqvist. But I guess on you saying that I guess his comparison being Bobby Lu is fine...

Edit: if you are not trying to troll what I said I take back my statement.

- Crazycaboose

I'd say they play similar styles (Lundqvist and Luongo).

The one thing I think the oilers are doing wrong is they tend to rush there kids into the nhl. Where as the cats are not this time like in years pass they are letting them develop this time.

Rocco Grimaldi is too high on this list IMO. I'd definitely rank Bjugstad, Markstrom, Shore and maybe even Howden over him.

Four-Way Trade!

To Vancouver: Hoobadoo, Markstrom, Grimaldi, Bjugstad, Morgan Rielly, Jake Gardiner, Alex Gudbranson, Leafs 2013 1st, Florida's 2015 1st, Jonathan Toews

To Toronto: Mason Raymond, ROberto Luongo (41 games)

To Florida: Keith Ballard, Roberto Luongo (41 games)

To Chicago: NOTHING!!

FAIR VALUE I SAYZ!!!

- Brian Huddle

Also a better NHL Comparable for markstrom would be Henrik Lundqvist. No so much Bobby Lu just my thoughts.
- Crazycaboose

I think Huddle was maybe comparing Markstrom to Lu back when he lacked positioning and structure in his game and relied on his athleticism and overall skills to stop the puck.

Chicago gets nothing. I think everyone is happy.

OH SNAP!

Love you Hawks fans. I have a old Chelios jersey hanging proudly on my wall. I swear!

I'd agree. He can put up huge stats playing in junior leagues all he wants, with size like that, he's gonna have to prove he can do it in the NHL first.

Hmm....I still don't think it's fair. Throw in Kane, Sharp and Hossa to Vancouver and Seabrook and Keith to Florida then it sounds about right.

- DarthKane

You can keep the drunk frat-girl choking weasel. He'll be out of the league and in jail in another year or so anyway.

It's a ranking based on potential. He's very much boom or bust, but his skill was easily 2nd in his draft class to RNH, IMO.

As a die-hard fan of this team, I find nothing wrong with this write up. Great as always. Things are exciting for us right now. I just hope we get to see these guys on the ice.

Liking that you have John McFarland in there.

I remember seeing him at the U-18's a few years back. When he decided he wanted to play, no one was stopping him. one of the more explosive skaters I've seen, great shot, and didn't mind the rough stuff.

Reminded me a little of Gaborik and Iginla at the time but seems to have staled a bit.

His problem to me, is he would take huge chunks of the game not really looking interested.

There high end prospects are plays who wouldn't benefit with another year of Jr and are not eligible for the AHL. Hall, and RNH wouldn't have developed in the CHL other than maybe getting a little bigger.

They were bad for rushing players (Gagner and Cogliano possibly PRV and Lander) but now they are more than patient with players who aren't ready.

Not only that but the Panthers have one of the top 5 talent evaluators leading their team as well.

So very true. He likes to skip the 2nd contract stage and go straight from 1st to 3rd level money. He's a players GM for sure.
