Streit and Nabby should grab us some nice draft picks @ the deadline...

MacKinnon or Jones is the question?

- jimmc7722

I would think you would get a decent pick for Viznovski too, if he plays for us...

Grabner. Closer to 20 goals or 30? I think he bounces back a bit this year. It's possible he was riding the high of being a new dad, being a Calder trophy finalist, and earning a nice contract right before last season. Maybe he comes into this year more focused and driven.

edit -- guess no one wants to talk about Grabner! Streit then? Bounce-back year? Same as last season? Further decline?

20. I think he stinks.

Wow, you're pretty down on Grabner! What don't you like about his game? I don't like that he's completely non-physical, but with his frame, I think if he was physical, he'd be hurt for 40 games a year. And I think, like Nielsen, he makes up for a lack of physicality with an active stick and anticipation. I've always said the Isles have too many players like that, and that individually I like them but not necessarily as a unit. But I think Grabner's shown that he can be a legit threat when he stays focused.

its the offseason...he should be vacationing
- LetsGoIsles

The last thing he should be doing is vacationing. Some guy who never coached in the nhl should be preparing in any way he can for the season. Even though it may not happen

Maybe stinks was a bit of an exaggeration. But, he has hands like feet and a shot more suitable for the women's game. I agree he's always a "threat", due to his speed, but I think that's almost always all that he is. He routinely misses chances that other guys would kill to have. If he converted on like 40% of his breakaways he'd scored 30 a year easily.

And for my absurdly-wild-idea-of-the-day (that I obviously know would never, ever happen): If he continues to decline from his breakout year...stick him on D. With his wheels he could turn an otherwise crappy breakout into an explosive, fast-paced one. He's pretty good defensively too, his stick-work is super-active, as we saw when he stripped Kovalchuk of the puck and scored that shorty last year. I know this would never happen in a million years and is probably a ridiculous idea..just fun food for thought/discussion.

yuup...this is a HUGE deal for the islanders and its dragging on waaaaay too long. visnovsky being on the team or not is a huge deal. if they would have made a decision than the isles would know how to proceed at this point. they would presumably be working on a way to fill the position if in fact the trade is voided. every day that goes by is another day lost (if the deal is voided). this should be on top of garths "to do" list
- LetsGoIsles

If snow isnt already trying to fill in his blue line than hes an ass. With or with out vis.

On the other hand you have the New York Islanders, who could hold a rat rodeo in the bowels of the decrepit Nassau Coliseum and have taken John Tavares hostage.

Gotta love the Canadian media. Talking about just straight up axing two teams from the league and moving two others to Canada

I would never blame Wang and Snow for playing in the Coli. I do blame Wang for firing a Cup Winning GM and hiring a backup goalie and giving DP a 15 year contract and Snow for hiring Cappy and not trading PA instead of losing him for nothing. I do not blame them for having a small payroll or the Coli. I think it's fair to say the Coli has been a huge problem for the Isles and some of Wang and Snow's decisions have also been a huge problem.
