As is always the case, Vancouver fans know nothing about hockey, and have to come into Leafs threads to get edumacated.

No need to thank me - just send Luongo over here for Komi, D'Amigo and a 3rd.

Close?
This is the PA's first counter proposal that's all.
Dont read too much into the meeting. It's just logistics.

- Fakepartofme

always gotta be negative with me and any other ref dont ya?

anyways.. no, i disagree.. if they werent at least open to the concept.. they wouldnt of gone back in to meet.. they would of retracted.. and formulated a counter proposal.

just like last time.

Alright, so burns rant about only playing for one country is about as well thought out as the rest of his posts?
- Bieksa#3

Once you play for a certain country, it becomes very, very difficult to switch to another.

Peter Statsny and Petr Nedved are interesting historical tidbits, but not really reflective of today's reality. Rules were different then due to the Iron Curtain (I'm guessing you are simply too young to remember a time when movies like Red Dawn were awesome and scary at the same time).

Today, Burn's rant (although I haven't actually read the rant) is more or less correct. Once you choose which country to play for, you are probably only going to play for that country.

What about Petr Nedved would you like me to explain?
- Atomic Wedgie

I misunderstood your post. I was going off Burns original post of they can't ever play for a 2nd country internationally. My bad.

Like I said above, there are exceptions to the rule, but you have to jump through many hoops.

So once you play for a country internationally, chances are you won't play for another.

the amount that gets played in insane
(was on last night!)

he quoted burn as saying once you've played for 1 country, you can't play for another. Fact.

This is not, in fact, a fact.

How about:

Once you've played for one country, you can't play for another country unless you are willing to obtain new citizenship, declare that you want to play for your new country, and then wait four years.

To my knowledge, no one has done this.

Phaneuf's not making it, but I don't see Subban or any of the Habs defense either unless something crazy happens.
