Dion has shown in the past that he is an Allstar defenseman.....Big , tough, physical, Lays the big hit, great shot on the point etc.........he has also shown that he can play like a complete idiot. Can't skate backwards, misses the net 12 feet high, and puts him self out of position going for the big hit

He has 2 years to elevate his play to consistant Allstar level, and then we can have this discussion.

as of right now.......He doesn't deserve a spot on the Canadian Team not even close

I dont think Leaf fans overate phaneuf, a better comparison would have been "like Leaf fans overate Schenn" . But even that is a bad comparison, cause Subban has skills and can play D on a consistent basis.
