The Edmonton Oilers are the only team that signs their players to extentions, then immediately start alledgedly shopping them around the NHL. Gotta love 'em.

there is no way the Oilers will make that trade.. they have enough players that are like sekera!! there is ryan whitey, n.schultz, j.schultz, jeff petty, ladislav smid.. i really can't see the oilers giving up gagner for sekera! makes no sense!! if not myers its probably going to be ehroff!

as nice as either would be, the oilers need a top 4 guy, not another prospect. the future of the defense looks good as it is (as long as one or two of Klefbom, Marincin, Gernat, Mucil turn out to be top 4)
But yeah, Mcnabb or Pysyk would be nice to have as well...

Oh, you'll get little argument from me. Our management hasn't been great either, but they've played it safe and are doing what they've said they'd do. Besides the Horcoff deal, how many of our contracts are really that bad? Hemsky's deal is two years long and Belanger and Eager get payed menial sums for 2 more years. Our contracts are structured to end once the 'kids' need extensions.

Eklund says MAJOR deal and you come up with Gagner and Eager for Sekera and Flynn. I'd hate to see what you consider a minor deal.

First of all...I think moving Hall to Center is stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Second. MPS has not shown he is a top 6 guy. Hall is their ONLY real LW. Hemsky may work ok, but he's not natural there.

Third of all. How can the Oil take on another Defenceman, without getting rid of at least one maybe two that they currently have under contract.

Fourth, I'd rather keep Gags and move Hemmer. KLowe's crush on him makes me sick. They should have dealt him 4 years ago.

I dont see any of this happening at all. I see a better chance of the twitter rumour of JBO to Edmonton for a combo of Hemsky/MPS depth d guy.

I disagree with you.. buffalo sabres don't have that many bad contracts! they have more cap room than us.. and they don't have any significant rfa's over the next couple seasons! they have ehroff at 4 mil, myers at 5.5 mil, only player is villa leino and oilers have horcoff so overall buffalo is doing pretty well.. and so will the oilers in a couple seasons when hemskys cap ends and then horcoffs and by then hopefully hall ebs huge and yak are signed for decent cap extensions!

After adding Ott and Scott to Buffalo's roster, do they really need someone like Ben Eager? A 3rd line prospect winger with top 6 potential, in my opinion that sounds like Pajaarvi or Harti...

I love how eklund mentions a rumor that is incredibly vague with details that most of us can make up in 10 seconds, generates hundreds upon hundreds of comments, and then never mentions it again.

Judging by his words, it's a major trade, even if it is not going to happen because it's mentioned by him.

But, fun to guess...

Gags, MP both fit from his comments, and they are the closest. Harti is not a top 2 winger, neither is Lander, and Omarks ship has sailed to little value land.

Gags, MP and a 2nd round pick for Sekera and Grigorenko.

Oilers appeared to have a Jones for Grigs before the draft, if they traded down, that appeared to be the guy they wanted. Grigs fell down a bit in the draft, and may have indicated something that could cause the sabres to consider trading him. Sekera is signed for 3 years, and with the Sabres depth coming, I'm pretty sure Buffalo would want to free up some space considering their back end is very expensive.

Not sure why Buffalo would want Gags, but no way in hell would the Oilers trade the number 1 rated prospect in the league in RNH (according to HF) unless it was Meyers AND Buffalos top prospect AND something else on top. My feeling is Buffalo needs to do better this year and improve the team if they want to keep up. Gags is more of a sure thing than Grigs, and with Ott joining, be a nice start up for a decent 2nd line.

MP fits "a third line young player who many feel has top six potential" to the tee. could see Buffalo interested in him, they seem to have some good left wing prospects, but not so many right wing prospects.
