None of those guys play D or G though, that's their big problem. They act like they can win without defense or goaltending like the Gretzky days, but they don't have the firepower.
- LetsGoBuffalo75

If Whitney can regain form...

If N. Schultz can maintain himself as a reliable 3/4 D-man

If J. Schultz is as good as he's been made out to be...

If Petry and Smid can continue playing top pairing quality opponents successfully...

If at least one of Klefbom, Marincin, Teubert, Gernat, or Musil can impact the roster within 2 years...

It's a bunch of 'ifs' but I'd rather stand by those 'ifs' than trade away one of our Big 4.

what happened in edmonton that they got soo bad?
- joshs

It's a long story but essentially:
- cinderella contracts for the whole team that went to the '06 SCF from KLowe
- 2 underachiveing seasons followed by two-three years of 400+ man-games lost to injury.
- KLowe promoted himself... sigh
- No prospects to develop until Hall's year came around (Gagner was the only legit prospect (drafted in 06 no less))
- got shat on by Pronger and a number of other FAs and raped on trades as a result
-more years of injury and rookies on the first line
- horcoff is finally a third-liner (great third-liner, but was counted on to be the first liner for too many years)

If anybody wants to grab the mantle and continue feel free...

Re: Myer's salary
He already received his 10M signing bonus. He is owed 2M the rest of the season.

Sekera received his bonus too. He is owed 1.75M in each of the next 3 seasons. A good deal for a budget team for a top 4 D.

Who knows but this might do it since any thread with the Sabres get high comments and Edmonton fans (not all) thinking it involves Myers just wishing for it after years of lottery picks want a winning team (dont we all)

Are the first two trades contingent upon a contract extension?

Alcohol (is) a drug...not really debatable. Alcohol is chemically induced...thereby defining it as a drug. Its an accepted drug, like nicotine, and enjoyed around the world... but a drug nonetheless.

Aslong as you drink while discussing it, it makes up for the stale conversation.

Its better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are dumb, than to open it and let them know for sure.
- Iggysbff

You're really going to disagree? Instead of adressing their largest need at defense, EDM decided to take Yakupov instead of Murray, when you guys are already loaded on Offense. Say what you will about prospects, you guys are in for a tough time. Also, why the personal insult? I've never insulted you.

Haha...yeah I'm decent at both. Definitely get tooled on in NHL here and there, but that's when I play someone that has played like 1000 games and has nothing better to do.

In their defense, I think they felt strongly they could land Schultz and everyone forgets about Oscar Klefbom, who I personally (and I'm not alone) think high of.

EDM Defence is underrated, I think they lack a true top pairing guy but it's still a solid unit

DSP on the first line?! Definitely lottery worthy! And I speak from experience in that sense! It's definitely an interesting idea. Considering the depth of this coming draft, having four 1sts could be an almost immediate rebuild.
