I reckon the only goalies Western Conference goalies Burke isn't interested in would be Steve Mason, Devan Dubynik and Corey Crawford. All the other starters would be an upgrade.

I would welcome taking a chance on Mason. You don't just lose talent it's got to be there somewhere maybe the change could work. I highly doubt Burke would do it but just saying

I'd take Niemi, but who would your goaltender be then? Because the Leafs aren't going to give up Reimer.

Yandle isn't going anywhere. And even if he does get traded it won't be to Detroit because Holland isn't going to give a king's ransom to get Yandle. I would love to see Yandle play for the Wings... but I'm a realist and another team will totally outbid Detroit to get him. Just my 2 cents.

Any team that gives of the type of money I'm hearing for Doan is insane.... especially given his age and level of production. I think Doan is a great player.. but not good enough to warrant that type of contract. Maybe if he was still 27 years-old.

I think they should trade Kipper...but
#1. TO does not have the assets to make that deal with the Flames.
#2. Feaster has said countless times that a Kipper trade is a non starter. Not a chance.
#3. The only reason they have come close to the playoffs is because of Kipper. If he goes...they are a lotto team next summer.
#4 Toronto Sucks and the Flames have far too much respect for Kipper to send him to that hockey wasteland!

2 & 3. Feaster and the whole Flames franchise is a joke. At least the Leafs FINALLY realized that they weren't a playoff calibre team, and somewhat did a rebuild. Flames are a 10th place team refusing to acknowledge they need a rebuild BAD. They have nothing coming up the pipeline, and aging vets in their lineup. They should trade Kipper and Iggy to stockpile assets.
4. Speaking of wasteland (both hockey and the city) Pot meet kettle.

I want to be wrong. I just can't see Toronto making any significant moves in the off season. I think anything that if there is a chance of anything happening, it is after the season starts.

We have to face facts too, we're not attracting a perry, getzlaf or Ryan to our team in it's current state. These are players that want to play for contenders.
