Not overvaluing Kipper or anything but that package would have to be pretty attractive to pry him out of Calgs. He is the only reason we have been close the playoffs the past few seasons. Calgary can't afford to part with him unless obtaining a very solid prospect(s) and pick(s).

the gonchar move makes zero sense, for both teams.

detroit needs a longterm solution back there, not a guy who's gonna play 1 year and likely retire. gonchar can still play a little offense, but beyond that he has little value. the wings need someone to step in and fill a void on the top pairing (and it's unlikely to come from within the organization), and gonchar is DEFINITELY not that guy.

it probably makes even less sense for ottawa. first of all, they're still around 3-4 mil under the cap floor. so unless datsyuk or zetterberg is coming the other way (obviously i know they aren't, just making a salary comparison) then ottawa would be even further away from the cap floor, and would be forced to brutally overpay for a mediocre FA. second, the sens probably have even less options on D then the wings (assuming they don't want to rush Ceci into the NHL), so it would be stupid to trade one of the few NHL ready d-men they have.
