I agree.. he is not seen by us as a top defensemen either.
He is best served in as a 4 d-man.. - JVince11

haha nope Leafs get him first I do see STL trading Stewart, obviously I don't know this for a fact. But I would guess Hitch does not like him too much. |

Hitch used Stewart as if he was an enforcer or Lucic type player.. he had him over 100 PIMs.. that is not Stewarts game at all..
Stewart is a big body that likes to hit and snipe in some good passes.. he is essentially another 25/25 or even 30/30 type player just like Bobby Ryan is.. |

Looks like Predators just entered the trade field for a D-man as well...
Regier and Poille seem to be friends...

As well he was a healthy scratch a couple of times in the playoffs, and moved/benched him during the reg. season.

thats what I am saying.. Stewart is NOT that type of player and Hitch was trying to mold him into that...
Stewart is a guy that is best with a good center next to him to feed him... When he was with Stastny he had his best statistical season with 28/36.. then the following year he was basically on track to do it again with 30 points in 36 games.. but then they traded him in the Eric Johnson deal.

I haven't mentioned it in months.. but there are a lot of people talking on the net that STL is looking to trade for D-men.. especially j-Bo right now.. and that a winger that "doesn't fit the system" is the bait.
just filling in blanks my friend. |

There are just some real head scratcher trades..
Nashville receives a 1st round (23rd overall) pick...
Philly receives Kimmo Timonen and Scott Hartnell...
---------------------------------------------------------------
ATL receives Erik Christenson, Colby Armstrong, Angelo Esposito, and a 1st (29th overall)
Pitt receives Pascal Dupuis and Marian Hossa
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Heatley for Havlat straight up still doesn't make sense to me..
------------------------------------------------------------
SJ receives a conditional 2nd round pick
Calgary receives Mikka Kiprusoff
------------------------------------------------------------
Us drafting Andrew Peters with the 2nd rounder we got for Pat LaFontaine.
--------------------------------------------------------------
SJ Receives Teemu Selanne
Anaheim receives Jeff Friesen, Steve Shields, and a 2nd rounder
- JVince11
I know some of those look bad on paper and turned out to be completely one-sided, but there are some things to consider.
That Nashville-Philly trade was for the rights to Hartnell and Timonen, as both players were just days away from becoming UFAs. Under those conditions, I think Nashville did OK.
The Hossa trade turned out to be a stinker, but at the time Colby Armstrong and Esposito were considered to be can't miss blue-chippers. Funny that Dupuis was just a "throw-in' and turned out to be the best player in the trade for what he has contributed to Pittsburgh over the years. |

Josh Cooper of the Tennessean: If the Predators don’t land Shane Doan, they’ll look to the trade market to address their needs. If they aren’t able to bring anyone in, look for youngsters like Craig Smith and Gabriel Bourque to have bigger roles. This is a crucial year for Colin Wilson who was scratched for 6 of their 10 playoff games. A Bobby Ryan trade is possible, though the Ducks may be unwilling to trade him to a Western Conference team. The Preds may need to make a deal for a blueline. Jonathan Blum and Ryan Ellis may be their 5th and 6th defensemen. They did have interest in Paul Martin earlier in the off-season, but it appears he’s remaining with the Penguins. |

I did not know that.. but still.. you would think for 2 players waiting to be UFAs.. most than just a late 1st.
then again we gave a 4th for Ehrhoff I think about 24 hours before he was to become a UFA. |

NSH will probably look to get JayBo. Similar skill set to Suter and would make it easier on Weber.

which could be understandable...
there are about 5-7 teams looking for D help.. but only 1 Jay-Bo...
I think after all the dust has settled.. Detroit will end up with him. |

I agree, but he might. Detroit is going to start to decline very fast with their guys aging and not much in prospects. Might figure to go hard the next few years. |

A lot of talk that doan has narrowed his choices down to Vancouver, Pittsburgh, and Da Rangers...
Word is he is actually looking for a 4 year/30M deal.. NYR has told him straight that they will offer him a 3 year deal at max.
SJ I guess is out because they were gonna offer a 4.5 to 5.5M deal |

I think at worst they regress to 90 points still make the playoffs. Just feel like hes always drafted enough talent to keep the wings on top. |

getting bounced in 5 games by Nashville sure didn't help their team direction.
it is just shocking to see that they have not been able to swindle any half way big name UFAs there. |
