Why do you feel this way? There is interest for him, and he could allow for an upgrade in other areas of need, in addition to cap relief.

In a perfect world you would like to keep him, however the team has bigger needs elsewhere and he is one of the current defenders we could (arguably) afford to move, in order to bring in needed assets.

Why isn't anyone reporting on the real trade bait. Someone who makes just over 5 million a year, and who had his no trade/movement expire this summer. This would allow for an upgrade in other areas and cap relief. If it hasn't already been done, can you make your next blog an analysis on who would/should take Kipper, and who we should/could get back for him? Thanks!

Sadly have to agree. Rather keep JBo in there.
- B_def

I just don't see the point in moving J-Bo unless the Flames are going to rebuild.

Did some digging:
as per @flamesjambalaya - current Jbo offer is Filppula, Ericsson and a pick

- B_def

Depending on what the pick is, this isn't that bad of an offer if true.

Did I miss something? What significant trades has Feaster made? Why weren't the Flames in on Justin Schultz?
- Reveen

They did make inquiries...Justin Schultz picked the Oilers.
Is everyone else missing something. The Oilers have picked in the lottery 3 years in a row. The Flames have not.
The Oilers have a lot of good young talent, but until they win something, they have achieved nothing except finishing in the lottery 3 years in a row.

We were never on his approved list. My comment wasn't about significant trades made by Feaster, it was about the reputation that Tambi has. As for Feaster, it has been reported on several occasions that he has been working the phones constantly trying to make things happen. He did just trade for the negotiating rights to Wideman. IMO that's a pretty big move, not a hockey trade by any means, admittedly.

Have you contributed anything more than just a 1 word dialogue per comment? Do you even speak english?

Oh, and just to increase your knowledge and to reiterate what Fl4mes already said, Kipper's NTC ended July 1st of this year.

Filppula has one year left @ $3M., and Ericsson with two years @$3.25M.....not bad.

The pick makes the difference for me, if this is accurate.

Back to hockey. Colin, Bobby Butler was bought out from the Sens, IYO, is he worth looking at. If we weren't up close to the limit in contracts, I wouldn' t mind giving him a 1 year contract. The kid has skills, he just needs to find a comfort level I think. He is a RW as well which we lack organizationally.

Dont lump almighty oil in with most Oil fans...

I wouldn't say Tambi has not made any trades. He has made plenty. He has not been willing to make DUMB trades though as most GM's have. He has said on numerous occasions that any trade proposals that include any of the young guns is a non starter and that is what most other GM's have been trying to pry from the Oil. Look at last season. Pulled a number of fairly big deals. Most notably Penner.

Feaster has said he will not trade Kipper because he is afraid of what happened when they traded their #1 goalie in TBay. They still to this day have not found a suitable replacement. So Kipper will be in Calgary most likely for the remainder of his contract and then may go back to Europe. Flames fans had better hope they keep Kipper. Without him they are looking at a lotto pick.

Now ask yourself why did Schultz pick the Oilers over 29 other teams?
