Boy that joke is about as old as what the team used to be 2 years ago. For the uninformed and uneducated, the Flames sit at about the 17 oldest team in the league; right around the middle of the pack (as per NHLnumbers.com). So please, dispence with the outdated comments and lame attempts at jokes and Flames bashing. Rather, spend the team learning what you are trying t alk about. - TandA4Flames

If JBo's actually moved I wouldn't mind seeing CC in a Flames jersey at all.
Gio and Wideman would likely take over top line duties, Carlo and Butler could play second line, and Sarich and Brodie could play 3rd line with relatively even minute splitting between all 6 guys.
I could live with that, especially if we had a guy like Stastny or Berglund lining up next to Iginla. |

Prob is outside JBo, what do we offer the Avs for a Stasny? Honestly I think Wideman was brought in to offset the loss of JBo. We have a much greater need at center... |

Precisely, you've got to think that if Jbo does get shipped out, we would need a replacement in the top four as I dont feel anyone in the current lineup could effectively step in.
Further, are any of you opposed to moving a guy like Brodie if it means getting that centerman everyone wants? Or would you rather continue to develop him into a core player for the Flames? |

I'd send Backlund too. Maybe ask for a 2nd back to offset it. |

If I'm moving Brodie I want a premiere 1st line center in his early 20's.
For Benn, I'd include Brodie... For Stastny I don't think I would. |

Agree, but Dallas would never move Benn. Statsny would make Backlund expendable & agree, JBO + Backlund for Statsny & a 2nd or 3rd probably is a solid offer for Colorado. Remember, Colorado have him playing 3rd line centre at 6.6mill. Thats as bad as our 3.5 mill cap hit Stajan on our 4th line. CC is in that Butler category but being injury prone. Trade JBO, I dont think he is the answer, unless you get him for around 2.5 mill per year range, then you can roll the dice & hope Brodie steps up to top 4 during the year. Otherwise, just go into the season & hope & pray Brodie & Butler have huge years next year & can compliment Gio & Wideman in the top 4. Scary but nothing that cant be fixed next summer. |

Robidas and Morrow for Glencross and Jbo |

The problem with moving Brodie is that, so far anyway, we don't have any D prospects that look like they can contribute in the next 2 or 3 years. Perhaps Sieloff, Wotherspoon or even Ramage will be able to make the jump in the next few years but there is nothing showing that they are developing like Brodie. I can see Brodie developing into a top 4 puck mover.
But, I guess you have to give to get. Moving forward if we have a guy like Benn and Jankowski develops as expected, we could look VERY solid down the middle in 4 or 5 years.
Of course, our D could be terrible, like Oilers terrible. Sorry, couldn't resist. |

Then make them an offer they can't refuse. Jbo, Backlund, Nemisz and a stallion head in the owners bed |

Mean to say that you dont agree with the blog, or that the topics could be viewed as stale due to the time of year?... - Colin Dambrauskas
Ahh, nice work calling me out. I called it crazy summer talk because:
1. Calgary won't (shouldn't) sign an injury prone defence man (they didn't resign injury prone forward Moss).
2. JBO should be in your defence line build as he isn't going anywhere (no trade) but to the first pairing with Wideman.
And, I feel that your blog generates good discussion, and with the lack of news at this time of summer, it's worth the read.

You dont think thats fair? Robidas is criminally under-rated and is probably on your top pairing with Giordano. Makes half of what Jbo makes and has the same term.
While I think Glencross is also criminally under-rated, Morrow is a clear upgrade. You actually save some money on the cap too.
You move Jbo's salaray and allocate more of it towards stacking your forwards while still getting a dman that can replace Jbo's minutes.
Stars get a solid yet unspectacular dman that can play huge minutes, but just doesn't produce enough offensively to warrant his salary. At 2 years remaining though, his deal is easier to swallow. Glencross replaces what Morrow is likely to bring to the third line this year (Eriksson, Benn, Ryder, Jagr, Whitney, Roy) at a cheaper price.

Why do you feel this way? There is interest for him, and he could allow for an upgrade in other areas of need, in addition to cap relief.
In a perfect world you would like to keep him, however the team has bigger needs elsewhere and he is one of the current defenders we could (arguably) afford to move, in order to bring in needed assets. |

No, sorry, I don't think that is a good deal for CGY.
Morrow: Age- 33 GP- 57 G- 11 A- 15 26pts.
GlenX: 29 67 20 21 41pts.
Robidas: 35 75 5 17 22pts.
JBo 28 82 5 24 29pts.
So, yea, we would save a few bucks but we get older...again (thank you Oilers fans) and we lose productivity. Not worth it... at all. |

You are probably right. By the time Feaster digests the offers for JBO, I dont see a trade being made & I would feel a hell of a lot better having JBO in our top 4 anyway. If its a salary dump, then we may as well trade Iggy & Cammi too, keep Kipper (his contract is too sweet for the next two years) and blow the thing up. If the offer overwhelms us, then I guess take a chance. Therefore, I trade JBO for Statsny straight up, but if we have to add, then I dont know, I would rather keep a decent defense & hope Backlund rebounds & Cerevenka is the real deal. |

I can see a legitimate hockey trade with respect to Jbo. Given his cap hit, it wont be an overwhelming deal for us, but a solid hockey trade.
Feaster will not move him for the reasons you guys have listed, but dont think for a second he wouldnt like to make the deal if it improves the team by making them younger and more competitive up front. |
