far better in skill? i dunno, hes also paid quite a bit more.. - big_dion
Bouwmeester is certainly better, far better? Not really....but hes certainly a much more reliable defender than would be Colaiacovo.
But you've got to give to get and I feel there is/will be strong interest for a guy like Jbo soon if not already. As mentioned above, some may feel hes not being shopped or moved anymore, but lets be honest, theres plenty of time.
Just because Feaster hasnt moved him yet, dosnt mean hes not considering the options and that other GMs have been calling. Just a matter of getting the right deal. |

Like I said earlier, get Carlo first and drive the demand for Jbo up, then trade him to get more return. |

Little risky my friend....Flames already have nine guys signed, eight penciled in...if the demand/proposals for Jbo arnt enticing enough for Feaster and he decides to keep him, his hand may be forced to move another defender/two just cause he has too many.
They currently have one defender too many. They have nine signed, of which eight are NHL ready. Nice to have a glut of defenders, but seven NHL ready is plenty.
If they move Jbo, it will likely be for upgrades upfront. They would therefore need to bring in someone (at low cost) to make up for this absense...thus the need to move another current defender as I dont feel there is someone within the current roster who could make up for Jbo's minutes. |

I disagree.
If you get Carlo first then other GM's know you HAVE to get rid of JBO and will offer less. I think Carlo will probably get 4.5-5 mil. I think I would rather keep Jbo for the extra 2 mil.
The Flames already have offensive Dmen. Babchuck, Wideman, Gio. They dont need another one. |

Flames wouldn't more Brodie our best prospect on D. Especially to sign a Injury pron verteran. |

Ok then as Iggysbff just mentioned, would Wideman not be an acceptible replacement for Jbo? |

Who suggested this?
If you're quoting the blog, I did say they may even move Brodie for upgrades up front. |

It has always been my opinion that Wideman was brought in to allow for a Jbo move to happen. However, Wideman is strictly offensive whereas CC plays both ends. Wideman would not effectively replace the puck moving or skating that Jbo brings to the team. |

Is there a defensive stalwart that could counter balance Wideman? Like a Gunnerson to Toronto's Phaneuf? |

2 blogs dedicated to CC? It must be very slow this summer in the NHL. He is a 5/6th Dman, regardless of skill set he does not play a full season. He is a good cheap depth signing for a team. |

I would say he's a second pairing Dman. |

If he played 75-80 games every season yes. But he plays 60-65, which means you would never rely on him being a top 4. |

haha, to be honest I saw Eks blog and thought to myself...Ive already written about Bouwmeester likely leaving, but have yet to really discuss what him leaving would mean, and further who could step in at low cost to alleviate such move....thus concluding...CC |

73, 63, 67, 65 past 4 years.
Yes he is injured but its just slightly more than the average NHL player I would say the average person plays around 70 games. |

haha hope you don't think I was busting on you. Just found it funny! Your blog makes more sense than Ek's.
I do think with JB gone, it will be a huge hole to the team. Not producing w/ points but he is still a great Dman. Take salary out of the picture, he is actually underrated now (never thought I would say that) |

he is not old enough to play for the flames - all mighty oil
Boy that joke is about as old as what the team used to be 2 years ago. For the uninformed and uneducated, the Flames sit at about the 17 oldest team in the league; right around the middle of the pack (as per NHLnumbers.com). So please, dispence with the outdated comments and lame attempts at jokes and Flames bashing. Rather, spend the team learning what you are trying t alk about. |
