Couldnt disagree more. He could have signed a one year deal or gone to arbitration. He knows he is playing on a line with G. Numbers are gonna jump, and so would his income. Instead he signed a deal now.. gets good money now, and likely believe he will be a Flyer for 4 years. Thats what he wants. - jak521
Do you think that means the Flyers are stepping away from Ryan. Or, are they prepared to consider sending Couturier or Schenn as part of the deal? |

And the contract (offer sheet) offered to Weber was based on the same thing. Paying him based on future performance. - stveshdy
I dont believe that. Its based on what he has already done, and what they expect him to continue to do. Its a bit of both.
There isnt a single deal signed with the belief that a player can at least continue their current play with out regression. And, especially when it comes to younger players with potential, future projections have to be considered. The fact that Voracek will be on a line with G, and likely the top PP unit would have bode well for him next year if he had signed a 1 year deal. He didnt do that to the team though.. he opted to sign a longer termed good faith contract. |

I think it shows that they have faith in this squad. There are plenty of other options out there not name Bobby Ryan. |

not stepping away, but wont include those 2 or 1 of the 2......if they didnt for weber i doubt they do for ryan who fills a non-existing need...........if they dont want read + prospects/picks walk away imo |

The point is the Flyers were paying Weber to do what his past production was but also what he can add if possible. So I agree. |

Also, it was rumored (and possibly still is) that they want a center. They aint gettin no center. |

either your sidestepping or you don't get the argument -
last yr at this time I caught hell for it. now i get flack for saying I'd move schenn for bogo
having JVR would give us the forward depth to make a higher level move. given that we draft forwards well and project Laughton to at least be a 3rd liner, our center position is more than covered of the nxt 3-5 yrs - get it?
so, instead of making a lower level move that left us needing a dman still, I want to go for higher stakes. - isaiah520
It's neither. I don't see where your catching flack for saying you'd move Schenn for Bogosian.
And again I'll ask you if having JVR still means we can acquire Bogosian. Or PK Subban, who is another player you repeatedly pushed.
And while your replying and asking if I get it. Show me where I've said I wouldn't trade Schenn for Bogosian, or a similar yuong defenseman with that upside.
Again, there seems to be a disconnect on what is actually being said on this board. |

With a salary cap thats near impossible but when you spend the most on defense in the league you expect your defense to be the strength of your team, imo. - stveshdy
True i think the reason we spend so much is because we never develop our own guys lol |

I think the biggest misconception is the notion that other teams would be willing to part with their top defensemen. - jak521
It's NHL 12 fantasy Hockey man! All we need is to still have JVR. |

I still dont get why ANA wants to trade ryan to begin with when perry and getzlaf are set to be UFAs, unless its to resign them long term, but they have tons of space.......corry perry is a nice trade deadline target |

We don't even know if Homer tried to trade for Bogo already. I make several phone calls through the course of the day, never gets reported on the internet, I'm sure the same can be said for an NHL gm. I don't think there is a requirement for them to report to Insiderrs and residents of Manayunk or the guys at TSN what they are trying to do. |

because a group of Flyer fans want him to play here since he's from Cherry Hill and is Clarke's god-son. |

update-
BUF 24:06 per
Bogo 23:16 per
guess BUF played a little bigger role - isaiah520
Break it down and look at ES, PP, and PK icetime. Then look at Quality of Comp and O and D starts. Then you'll have a clearer picture. |

Yep. Just need to "get" this guy or "just sign" that guy. as if it's as simple as the flyers wanting to do it. |

Those two things mean absolutely nothing to me. If Homer makes a trade for Ryan I'm sure at the press conference/conference call he will explain why they made the deal. |

I'm not sure why people would want him b/c hes from Cherry Hill and has ties to Clarkie. That is kind of irrelevant when it comes to the player. I guess it hold alittle weight with the Flyers b/c they are familiar with the family and the player. |

cause he's good player but not the best and people act like we need to put a stamkosesqe package together for him. |
