IMO its far more likely weber signed the offer sheet in hopes of "forcing" nashvilles hand. He was probably tired of getting low balled or fed some crap about how he should take a pay cut for the team.

I left that part out because that aspect was an even playing field. All the other "serious" suitors for the two of them (Buffalo, Nashville, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and even New Jersey eventually) were willing to match the offers Minnesota gave them.

Dont know about all that but as for me I said all along I thought Parise would end up with the Wild.Let me see a chance playing behind other superstars and hoisting the cup or taking the same money living in a nice area where they can build a team around you and where your from. Sutor about the same reasoning.Where would you like to raise a family some day ?Philly, New york,Pittsburg even Buffalo even tho I love you fans there not exactly the clean wide open midwest.

The sabres wanted Ott at the deadline ...... and we trade for and got him. Maybe the samething happens to Bobby Ryan.

Flyers- Wont give up Schenns or Sean Couturier and need a top 4 Defensmen. So i dont see them really needing Bobby Ryan

As for the recruiting problems:

Brad Richards- he wanted to go back to Torts and torts happened to coach the rangers. Sabres had no shot

Parise / Suter- Offered monsther contracts BUT both wanted to go home or live NEAR home. Sabres had no shot

Getting a star player: you need a lot of luck not just money. Thats why trading for one and giving up assets is your best bet. Trade for him, Treat him like gold, and make sure he tells his friends how great buffalo is.

You really have to question the motives and integrity of a writer who has so many biased and incaccurate statements in one short blog.

Weber SIGNED the offer sheet and his agent talked of his preference to play in Philly.

Suter and Parise were probably never going anywhere but Minn. because they wanted to play together and that's Parise's home.

The Flyers didn't think Carle was worth his asking price after the market for Dmen jumped. They thought it was worth the risk losing him to pursue Weber, who was their true target all along.

Jagr faded towards the end of the year and they Flyers were only going to bring him back on their terms.

Bobby Ryan is practically begging Anaheim to trade him to Philly.

Branding issues??? The Flyers have been one of the most successful frachises in hockey (financially and on the ice) for the last 40 years. Watch a Flyers game in any NHL city and you'll see orange and black jerseys in the crowd.
