The Fish Wrap?

Just another typical sensationalist yellow journalism undertaking striving for one thing only - figuring out how to stay afloat under the guise of just trying to "Save the Folks". You should look at their finances!

Lol.

And Forbes? Doctor office wait-room fodder of the same ilk for patients trying to figure out how to invest their Social Security checks. Oh yeah, and Forbes loves to blare out meaningless pulp scare stories.

It's just two pages back! Have you already forgotten what you wrote? Geeeez man.

Here is your post (emphasis added):

And here was my reply:

The tweets are from W. Brett Wilson, one of our owners. A Canadian billionaire. NOT Colin Wilson.

Lol.

thanks for bringing that up. whats his percentage?

you guys have your panties in a bunch becuase you think a big market team is picking on you. i dont blame you, but your gm put you in this spot. not the flyers.

again, the preds may indeed match. not saying they won't.

I've been a hockey for fan for 32 of my 38 years. Been in finance for 15 years.

The preds may be on the verge of making a poor hockey and fiscal decision here.

its a position that was avoidable.

income statements are available at year end. you got me on the typo. you might want to spend more time on the numbers of that doc.

when did i say they would not match? maybe they will. were we arguing that.

- acmilano3

Income statements? You mean the phony ones Forbes concocts and spits out? Preds are a privately held corp - it's legal to limit dissemination of finances to the public.

Who is Philly's current captain ? I know that their prior captain was lucky enough to escape and was able to hoist the Cup in his first year after exiting.
- MadCap2008

Chris Pronger. I also know the Flyers ex captain that lifted the cup was hardly the reason they won. It was Jon Quick but whatever, I won't waste my time with someone who didnt even watch the playoffs.

The Preds have the financials to match, none of that Forbes BS even matters.

The legitmate question of concern is whether it's in the best interest of the hockey club. Using that $27 million in 1 year on 5-6 players rather than 1 is probably a better option for the Preds IMO.

Amen!!!!

I for one still question the wisdom of spending that kind of money for one player, especially considering how front-loaded and bonus-laden the deal is.

I understand losing Weber would not be good in many respects and deep down I want to see him remain a Pred. However, keeping him bears a substantial amount of risk.

The Flyers are the 2nd winnigest franchise since the 1967 expansion and have 2 cups. Please don't start this kind of debate. You will lose.

Been a subscriber to both that and Barron's for longer than you've been alive. They aren't perfect either but at least they stay away from sensationalsim.
