The first few years they were rebuilding. It wasnt until last year that they outright came out and spoke about improving the on ice product. Not sure if you have season tickets, but never has the ticket broker discussed the team like this. They've never fielded questions about the team or the spending. They brought it up to us. Just like Snow said we're done rebuilding, just like Wang said he wished the season would start tomorow. Hearing all this, you arent going to think theres a shred of truth? Call me naive, but I thought more would be done by this point.

Sounds like the "Nigerian Prince" scam...most won't buy it, but if we hook one, Jackpot!

He would have had to waive his NTC. Free Rickshaw rides from Garth might have gotten it done

As I said..."No Weber in Philly".

What's scary about this is, Philly can continue to throw insane money at other teams RFA's and either steal another teams franchise player or screw up their payroll. Imagine if this happened with Tavares.

[quote=Cptmjl]You saying Snow will improve this team is absurd let alone via trade. What has he done to give you that impression? Your ticket broker and him telling you he would? They've been saying they would do anything they could to improve this team since day one. Have they? What makes this year different than last year where Snow stated himself it would be a failure if we didn't

I have had season tickets. Not since our back up goalie was made GM. That was the final straw for me proving just how insane Wang was after the Milbury debacle. As far as the "shed of truth" part. I didn't believe either of them for a second. No offence.

NTC........totally forgot. I mispoke.

Just kidding but expecting Snow to pull off something like this is expecting way too much.

Good for them . I am shocked though after Webers comments. Now it'll be interesting to see if they trade him?

I actually think its Visnovsky looking to squeeze a few more dollars out of Anaheim. And I think it probably came from either his agent or possibly even the NHLPA. Right after the trade he said all the right things. If he wasn't willing to come here he would have started screaming about the NTC right off the bat. Now he can go to the Ducks and say "Hey, for a couple of hundred thou I'll waive." He's obviously not in their plans and who knows if they can make a deal with another team at this point. It'd probably be easier for them to just bite the bullet and do that rather than potentially be stuck with him and have to pay him his $3,000,000 salary and absorb his $5,600,000 cap hit.
- PeteM

He filed the grievance 8 days after we traded for him.

Pretty sure there is no "pay me and I'll waive my NTC" allowed in a contract. And if there is, no team is going to cave to being held hostage like that.

No offense taken...........I did. No biggie, just a GM of an NHL club, and owner, a coach, and the ticket sales guy saying the same thing. Im the fool for believing

So anyway back to RDP. I am going to say he is going to have a bounce back season and win ten games this year that is actually goo for him and instead of having a 4.59 GAA he will lower it to 3.98. I mean just a hunch

Absolutely. Hate when the punishing Western Conference d-men end up in the East and especially the Atlantic.

Now all we need is for Vis to say "just kidding," the NHL to void the Nash trade for reasons unknown, and for the Isles to miraculously pull an offseason upset and trade for Bobby Ryan, and we're back in business

edit - Oh, and of course Doan admits he's always been a secret Islanders fan and would like nothing more than to play for the team for a reasonable salary. This happens right after a new state of the art arena falls from the sky right on top of the Coliseum.

Hey Dee-

Can I make a suggestion?

Why aren't you interviewing Garth?

Ricky isn't news. It's a nice piece and all but what the hell is the GM doing?

I'd be real interested in knowing if he thinks he's put a playoff contender together for next season?

Or are the final pieces going to come from camp invitees?

We dodged a bullet with Nashville matching for Weber and Philly not getting better.

Lubo may or may not be an Islander but is it SMART to wait to make the next move?

At LEAST make the attempt to shake things up. Let's hear of a silly offer for a Top 4 Dman to another GM. Let it leak. Let it be known the team is alive and trying.

They should move the jumbotron from the arena into Iceworks offices and set the damn thing off each day....see what the noise meter registers.....

Somebody show me you're trying....

Most players have no say in where they go. The GM's make the trade. The player clears his locker out and reports to a new team.
West teams are more willing to part with players leaving their conference in exchange for players, draft picks and prospects. Prospects. You know the thing we supposedly have a lot of. What Garth said at the draft was now that now we have enough pieces we can use our young assets to trade for impact players. I'm quoting him. Anyone else remember those words?

The entire management team of this team should be in the AHL at best..and thats an insult to the AHL. Pathetic off season , trades that weren't even viable and no sign what so ever to the ''core'' that they even care to win. I have to admit its been a worse off season than I ever expected...when will I learn.
