If your talking about Vis counting against the cap if his deal is voided, (maybe I misread), then no way. You can't essentially say the guy never became an Islander yet still will count against the cap.
- keaner17

I am, you didn't misread. Just like signing Thomas, same effect. We'll see.

I unfortunately don't see this happening.

be optimistic. That's right, optimistic. The more you look at Bklyn, the more sense it makes. Its the area that will allow the team to make the most profit for Wang. The league would prefer Bklyn to relocation to another city and before anyone crucifies the Barlcays, lets see how it plays out in October. I don't think its going to be as bad as some people keep arguing it will be.

That would be just about the easiest case for any attorney to handle EVER. By voiding the trade, the NHL would be saying the trade never happened and Vis has remained property of the Ducks, never having belonged to the Isles. At that stage, there's no way the isles could be charged his salary.

We'll see if that happens? Just like you guys tell me. It was speculated from the beginning.

It really doesn't matter how much any of us can take. The die hards will deal with it and hopefully be rewarded with a turnaround once things are up and running in Bklyn with this team's core being young and solid. The rest of us will lose patience, stop caring for a couple of years, and if the team improves after 2015, we'll come back and jump right back on the bandwagon. The team knows this.

Truth is, the "fan support" for the team can't really be any worse than it is right now. They pull in 10K per game and all any of us really do on these boards is b**ch about them. And that's fine. Were entitled to do so after the garbage that's been paraded out before us for the better part of the past 20 years. But I know and I think we all know that none of the true die-hards, the people on these boards, will not be there supporting this team if they move to Bklyn in 2015.

You're right............just look at what happened when the isles finally did make the playoffs against the Leafs. The place was packed and rockin.

However, as a season ticket holder, we're consistently sold on the idea that the isles will bring in players and spend. Year after year, we wait and sign up again and to no avail, its the same story. Personally for me, I feel as if i've been baited and switched. This is my team, but for the GM, the owner, the coach, and my ticket broker to elude to the fact that they will improve (a.k.a bring in better players) is total BS. I'd rather them say nothing then lie........its about as stale as the popcorn at the coliseum.

It makes perfect sense. The problem is the arena itself which you are already aware of. The other problem is the "some people" you are referring to is the league itself who stated the arena is not suitable to be an NHL arena and would not be used as such besides these preseason games.

I dont disagree, it will be a great option. However, heres my question? How on earth is Wang going to make money moving the team to brooklyn? Even if they pack the place, he still doesnt own the facility and will have to share in profits. Yes its a new building, but is the earning potential really that great for the owner of the isles to move his team to someone elses arena?

Even if its not 100 percent NHL ready, its still better than the coliseum. Besides, they can always remodel or add on......

You have been baited and switched, we all have for that matter. It is all BS. I find it incredible that people continue to go back to the trough to slurp this shat up? I'm a fan don't get me wrong but I have my opinion which I'm sure you're aware of. These guys need to prove me(and most)of the fan base wrong before anyone believes any of them. I'm sorry i don't see this happening. I honestly don't believe they have the drive or competence to run, own, or coach an NHL team. Save your money.

Don't miss my point. I would have no problem with Brooklyn. The NHL does. They just finished building the arena for basketball, they aren't adding anything on. There was an article about this and them saying there was no chance of renovations anytime soon to accomadate an NHL team. Not trying to be a debbie downer just stating what I read.

Well then stop misleading your fans as you stated, a lot of you poor bastards actually believe these idiots. And to add I don't believe that Wang is suddenly going to turn into a great owner and Snow a good GM. A building WILL not suddenly make this team competitive.

If there's money to be made, they will gladly remodel. It just has to work.

For me, I dont see how it makes sense for Wang monetarily to move his team to play at someone elses arena. Im not saying its not possible, i just cannot see how Wang who said he couldnt generate enough revenue with just a renovated coliseum, will make money in someone elses arena?

How do you not believe it when Snows makes a statement about adding via trade. I liked the visnovsky trade, but i dont think that should have been it. This team clearly on paper cannot compete with the likes of the Rangers, Pens, Flyers etc.

Again it doesn't matter if they play in a brand new arena or stay at that dump as long as Wang owns this team nothing will ever change

Depends on the terms of the lease. I believe the reason why Wang needed all of the real estate development in the LH project was because he was paying for the refurbished Coli. To recoup those costs and turn a profit, he needed the whole deal.

(edit - this is where people killing him on the referendum were off-base...the "I thought he needed all the real estate!?" attacks. Under the failed referendum, he wouldn't have been fronting the costs of the new arena. Huge difference in costs)

In this, he can probably get very good terms from the Barclays folks. They want to fill those dates. In truth, they should have been talking years ago. But it wouldn't surprise me if Wang has to share revenue from Isles' games but also gets a slice of revenues from other events held there. Or something like that...I don't pretend to know how this stuff works or what's fair. But it seems to be a mutually beneficial relationship, which would seem to suggest mutually beneficial terms.
