We are talking about a 3-4 defenceman with a 5.6 million dollar hit.

Both the Isles need...

Without him... Garth has to go back to work...

They should compensate but I have a feeling if this holds, the Islanders won't receive anything higher then a 5th round pick

awesome work as always Dee.

"Awesome" as in she didn't post 10 rumors that will never happen or "Awesome" as in she inspired several pages of comments? Either way, I respect that she's a fan. It's not like she has a lot to write about at this stage....

They will receive something... you can't just trade a player with a limited no trade clause, and not get a slap on the wrist.

We signed up for it. You think Snow was unaware? How is that even possible? Mark my words this is all BS and Mr. Visnovsky's contract will count against the cap even though he's not in an Isles uniform.

First off dee, if you did some actual research you'd know that the 17 year deal kovalchuk originally sign with the devils was shot down by the league which in turn got them fined and the loss of a 1st round pick which will most likely be in 2013. Kovalchuk then signed a 15 year deal with the devils that was ok'd by the league.

Secondly, it is hilarious that dp still thinks he's gonna bring the cup to the isles. Only thing he's brought is misery to this fan base. I've seen guys in adult leagues at the rinx move faster then dp and most of them are in their 40's or pushing 50.

And third, funny thing is last year was "make or break" for wang's golden boy, dp bombed as expected but apparently last season I guess didn't happen in that douchebag's eyes. Hope he gets booed again on opening night. Wake me up when it's april. It's gonna be a long agonizing season once again. Especially since crosby is healthy in pittsburgh, the rags acquired nash for next to nothing, philly is on the verg of getting shea weber, and the devils are still the freaking devils.

- The Iceman

There is no "make or break" season for anyone affiliated with the Isles unless your a trainer, assistant coach or an equipment manager. Nobody is held accountable for failure on the Islanders. That's why things stay the same. There will be no semblance of a "make or break" scenario for anybody until after 2015, when the team relocates (to Bklyn, hopefully) and loses all the built-in excuses tied to the NVMC and its lease for not icing a competitive team. Don't expect anything to change around the Islanders until after 2015.

I think Snow about this and then he can tell the fans look I tried. Every year he does something that he knows wont work out and then turns around and tells us see I tried but what can I do. Just a bunch of bull

What is really sad is that this past weekend I was on a flight from Dallas to Dc and next to me was an 8 year old boy with his mom. Started talking to me and he told me he plays hockey in Dallas.. great so far right ? then he asked me what my fav team was so I told him the Islanders.. his response : They really suck the past few years. He only likes number 91 Tavares... I couldnt believe the fact that this 8 year old kids even know we suck.. Garth, Wang and the rest of the comedy club please do something. On anoher note : If VIS does not want to play here then dont let the door kick you in the ( * ) All our guys inc;uding fans and players are trying to make something out of this so we dont need another Kirk Muller..

When will this end ? 2015 ? hope its sooner

Not sure.... but it seems fair to me.

The Isles thought they were set on defence, because of the trade.

Now they find out they don't have his services after free agency has come and gone.

They could have been working to find another defenceman in the meantime.

The Ducks screwed up here if they lose this.... the NHL has to make it right for everybody involved.

Isles knew before July 1st about this situation. They just waited until yesterday to tell everybody.

I agree. I'll still follow them and I'm curious if I'll still have the same passion as I do now. We'll find out in a couple of years. Wang is so bad that die hard fans like us would rather see them sold & moved just so we can watch a properly run franchise again. How facking sad is that?
- Vukota

I'll follow the Isles if they leave, but my interest will be fleeting at best. For that matter, my interest in the NHL would probably be relegated to fleeting if the Isles are no more.

Of course they did. Let's see if his salary counts against the cap when he isn't playing here.

If there is any team in the NHL I'd beleive that could happen to, it would be us. That said...No way

It was discussed and was thought to be the case by most when he had his first interview. It makes sense and is plausible with Wang and Snow. Even with their "winning attitude" red light Ricky was talking about. This is exactly what they signed up for, higher salary cap hit and paying the player less.

Agreed. I think we've all probably at some point or another, pondered who we'd cheer for if the Isles left. Prior to our famous series, it would have been Toronto for me, perhaps the St. Louis Blues now. I donno. That said, I still say there's no way this team ever leaves NY as a whole.

Our franchise has become so bad that Visnovsky rather play for a team that doesnot want him than the Islanders. But it's the building and the fans....
- mighty13duck

assuming this is sarcasm, i dont understand why it cant be the building and the fans that are the reason why vis doesnt want to play for the islanders?

It really doesn't matter how much any of us can take. The die hards will deal with it and hopefully be rewarded with a turnaround once things are up and running in Bklyn with this team's core being young and solid. The rest of us will lose patience, stop caring for a couple of years, and if the team improves after 2015, we'll come back and jump right back on the bandwagon. The team knows this.

Truth is, the "fan support" for the team can't really be any worse than it is right now. They pull in 10K per game and all any of us really do on these boards is b**ch about them. And that's fine. Were entitled to do so after the garbage that's been paraded out before us for the better part of the past 20 years. But I know and I think we all know that none of the true die-hards, the people on these boards, will not be there supporting this team if they move to Bklyn in 2015.

If your talking about Vis counting against the cap if his deal is voided, (maybe I misread), then no way. You can't essentially say the guy never became an Islander yet still will count against the cap.
