Most of us brought into the rebuild including myself. A few years ago I realized it was heading no where and I was foolish for believing in it in the first place. I'll believe it when I see it now.

if this past season was year 4 (complete) of the rebuild and you "realized it was heading no where a few years ago", im gonna say you didnt give it a realistic chance to succeed.

Kinda funny... I have never seen you call any of the meatheads on here any names.

Maybe you should attack them instead of me....

You didn't read through all the post... and don't know me very well.

I'm one of the only true fans on here that like the progress we have made in the last 4 years.

I'm just sick of the so called fans doing nothing but complaining.

Anybody that doesn't think this team is in a better situation than it was 4 years ago just doesn't understand what the rebuild is all about.

Talk to them.... I'm sure they know who they are...

Not really when you look at who was brought in to mentor these kids and how some of the on ice/off ice crap was handled. Off the top of my head RDP backing up thaat game with Buffalo when he was clearly injured. Do I have to give you more stuff. Is it really neccesary?

The REBUILD will never work....

Why should we wait for these 18 year old kids to grow up, and be ready to play in the NHL?

We don't need prospects to rebuild.

Name 3 teams that rebuilt through the draft that won the Stanley Cup?

It doesn't matter...the ownership doesn't want to win! He'd rather increase those $20 million per season in losses! Hell, he's not really losing money. I know a guy who knows a guy who's a security guard at Target who said he overheard someone saying Charles is making TONS of money!

I really dont think you have to. IMO ( and a token will get you on the subway) ,

A 1st round pick. (in our case it will be a high one again)

A Prospect. Such as DeHaan, Donovan OR Johan Sundstrom.

And A roster player, Bailey, KO OR Grabner will get Anaheim's attention.

Since Bobby Ryan has presumably been on the market for several months now. And he's still not been traded. I cant believe any other team is offering more than that. Otherwise. He'd be out of Anaheim right now.

I dont know what Anaheim is really expecting. They are not going to get back A PLAYER who has equal value to Bobby Ryan plus some additional pieces. That makes no sense and will never happen. All they can expect is an accumulation of Picks, Prospects and players that hopefully make up for their loss of Ryan and then some. Hoping that the Prospect and the Draft Pick make their team and turn our to be quality NHL players.

Of course before the summer is over. We'll see Bobby Ryan go to one of our rivals for much less and HB will light up like a "SLOT MACHINE" that hit the jackpot.

And then the spin will begin. How we were unwilling to divert from the rebuild and give up on any of our young talent.

Totally agree, we have more than enough to get a deal done but we can't give too much away. Anaheim needs to get that a roster player a pick and prospect is more than enough for Ryan. Thing is , as you say, another team will get a deal done for less and again we will want to scream. I don't know maybe other teams want nothnig to do with Snow period. Col wanted PA and got him, I'm sure we will find out Garth wanted to trade him and Col figured screw you Snow we will get him in UFA season.

As far as Nassh goes , like most vet players, they want nothnig to do with the Island unless they get no offers and get a call for a tryout......its very annoying to see the Rags get Nash knowing we could have got him with what we have...but he didn't want to be here.

Doan is another example...he is making his ''tour'' of Canada and has been in NY state already...he too wants nothing to do with the team....I can live with FA doing what they need to and players with No movement clauses but these trades that should be getting done but are not are just hard to take. I get mad and say Garth do your thing but I really think teams just don't do business with amateur management and owners.....if Garth had a better owner I think he would be a better GM...its like he is making chocolate chip cookies but Wang won't let him buy the chocolate chips!!!

Rebuilding is more than drafting. I don't know how you can be very impressed with how the Isles have developed its first wave of youth, with the established vets they have chosen to bring in to set examples for the youth, and with the coaches they have hired to mold and guide the youth. Phoenix went through a false start a couple of years ago with its youth for the very same reason...they did not handle their initial wave of prospects correctly. Then they put players back in the AHL, brought in some vets, and made Tippet head coach, and lo and behold, things started turning around. The Isles in that same time period doubled down on the Bailey mistake by making it again with Nino, replaced one set of spare-part vets with another, and replaced their failing coach, Gordon, with Capuano. It's tough to support those moves and get excited about them.

I like Snow's drafting so far. I really like our prospect pool. Not much else to like in the organization though. I simply don't have blind, overwhelming faith in this crowd (Wang, Snow and Cappy or whatever similar coach they bring in to replace him this year) to take the young players to the next level, and hopefully I'm wrong about that.

Didn't they say they don't want to add salary, too? Where do they think they're going to get a second-line center without adding salary?

Bailey and Nino didn't have anything left to prove in the minors. Playing against 16 year old kids will not help them.

Unfortunately... they can't play in the "A'" right away either.

I would rather have them learn from the pro's than coast through another year of playing with kids.

We will have the same issue with Strome this year.

But I do understand your concern.

I guess we will find out this year and next summer where we are heading.

Not sure why people are so hard on Garth... he had done a good job of filling the shelves with good prospects, he needs to start looking @ options to help out JT and Company.

We all know some of the trash that was brought in last year failed.

I think everybody loved the team the year before with the goons... I know I did.

Team toughness is very important... and last years team couldn't beat up Kasper.

He doesn't have the $$$ to throw around like other teams do.

The issue is with Wang... he has to open the pocket book.

And he won't spend money till he has an arena deal.

And the local politicians won't ok an arena because the people of Long Island don't want the team anymore... they would rather lose jobs and pay higher taxes....

So a move to Brooklyn or Queens is in order... if not, well.... you know the rest.

I never understood the "nothing left to learn" argument. Neither player was Tavares...multiple years of complete domination and rewriting records. There are always things to learn. As we saw clearly, Nino has a lot to learn wrt skating and defense; both are things he could have easily and arguably more effectively worked on in juniors with bigger minutes.

As for Snow, my problem with him is he goes in circles more than we do on this board. We had toughness in 06-07. Garth gets rid of them all and we have a very soft team for a couple of seasons and get pushed around. So we get toughness again in 10-11, as you mentioned, and the team seems to get an identity, then Garth does away with all the toughness and we're too soft again. So now he goes out and gets toughness once more.

We had a physical D. Garth gets rid of the guys we had and goes with a smaller, mobile D. Then he gives up some of the small, mobile d-men and goes with slow, old vets. Now he realizes he needs a physical D again so he gets Carkner...who's really just replacing/not overwhelmingly better than Witt or Sutton, who we could have just had all along.

He brings in a coach that preaches speed and skill above defense and positioning and gives him a roster of old, slow defensive-minded players. Then he starts buying out/replacing the old and slow players, but then replaces the coach with someone who has a different style, and brings in a worse crop of old and slow players again. Circles. I don't know...there's just seemingly no direction or plan other than, hope the kids just eventually take care of themselves and make it all worthwhile. He doesn't really create the best environment for them to succeed though. Some exceptional talents, like Tavares, will rise above it all.

I've said before I never have real problems with the players that Snow gets rid of on this team. They're not that great. But he never replaces the role they played. He gets rid of them, leaves a hole for a season or two, then plugs it later on with someone who's no better than the player we originally had there. Drives me crazy.

All good points...

Gordon... was an uptempo style coach... but we didn't have the players for it.

Too be honest... the players he had, were not that great for any system @ the time.

Nino should be fine this year playing the entire year in the A... it will help him grow as a player.

The jump from jrs to the NHL is a huge one!!!!
