Weber tested RFA. He didn't demand to be traded. I didn't see any report that said Nashville don't match cause I'm not playing there. He signed an offer sheet and knew the possibility of returning to Nashville. Weber is getting his money. If he was that concerned he should of signed any offer sheet, play out the year and become an UFA. He didn't do that b/c of the new CBA so he choose to get paid. - stveshdy
The person I talked to also said that Weber and his people were "surprised" by what happened. They clearly thought he was out of Nashville and on his way to Philadelphia. His people thought that the offer sheet made it clear he didn't want to be in Nashville and thats when they went on to say Weber is less than thrilled with what happened. In fact, the quote was all parties are pretty unhappy today. |

So...are there any other top pairing defensemen with a big, right-handed shot that can QB the power play available? |

Lets see what Weber has to say. He is the only person that counts and at some point he will have to talk. |

All of that doesn't mean he's way less than thrilled at being matched though. He gets the money regardless, but he may indeed have rather earned it in Philly. I think that's what makes this situation more annoying to get over than just losing out on a UFA. He supposedly wanted to come here. |

Even if he is very unhappy, he isn't going to say that he is. At least I don't think he will. What we'll probably get is a statement written by his agent released. With the standard blah, blah, blah!

He certainly can't say anything negative at this point. Let's see in 1-3 years |

Question for you. If they didn't move one them for the best defenseman in the NHL, why would they suddenly do it for someone not as good. It's over dude. They aren't moving them. - Flyers1218
we don't know that NSH didn't want both of them...and it's never over |

I don't know. I'm not Shea Weber but I think Nashville had to talk to him before the offer sheet was coming and told him they would match anything. |

How was it a giveaway? They got a very good young defenseman that has a lot of potential. Luke Schenn has as much potential as a defenseman as JVR had as a forward. Are we again labeling a player before he has even played a game for the Flyers? - MJL
Luke is going to be great in Philly. I've felt like the d has been missing a big physical player back there for some time . Happy to have acquired 270 hits with low pims. My guess is schenn moves up the depth chart this season. Can't wait. |

yep, that's what we got today wasn't it. The agent that was over the top pro-flyers last week, was oddly over-the top pro nashville today considering his comments last week. |

That was my original post about Rick Nash. He did come out and say it and demanded to be traded. |

Holmgren didn't give them what they wanted. I don't think they were going to match under all circumstances... they were going to match if they didn't get enough value for their player. If Holmgren called them this morning and told them he'll give them B Schenn and Couturier, Weber would be a Flyer. Weber could be annoyed at Holmgren for not doing what it took to get the deal done too. Only he'd know for sure. Still, of course, he needed to be prepared for the possibility of today's outcome. Doesn't mean he's necessarily thrilled about it, but the $110M offsets that. Though, he already had that last thursday. |

Has already shown that he can play well in this League as a very young defenseman. He has a real chance to be a very good physical defenseman in this League. And can also move the puck decently. And provide some secondary offense. And the Flyers have show to do a real good job taking on defenseman that have had some downs, and build up their confidence and built them back up. |
