Just because it's the highest d core when it comes to cap hit doesn't mean they will play well.

Health issues with Timonen, and Meszaros, coupled with growing pains from L. Schenn and the lack of a quality puck mover, I can see this defense core struggling mightily at times.

I like Bogo a lot as well. I would have no problem with either player. Both are an upgrade to the roster.

I agree. What I'm saying is it because the Flyers have handed out bad contracts or spreading the wealth through each pairing?

having 938 defensemen doesn't help.

It gives them choices........I don't mind it, it's time we see what we have in MAB and Gus with extended ice time.

If anything hopefully this teaches homer you need to find way to be patient and develop at each position.

your pre-judging them w/o the facts! they haven't played a gm together yet and your spouting common sense that doesn't comport w/ a preconceived notion of how I see things...so watch out!

I don't think Schenn will be traded. Sounds like Homer wouldnt include him for Weber, so why would he trade him for Bogo or any other defenseman? I would trade Read, MAB/Gus, pick(s) for Enstrom or Bogo.

If things break right, it could be a better than serviceable group. But asking Timonen to play a full schedule, and hoping Meszaros recovers from a pretty significant back surgery is asking a lot.

D heavy for sure. "m OK with minor tweeks at this point unless it's for a top pair DMan.

It kept Weber off the Rags, Pens, or any other rival teams. That's a bit of a win at least, and it didn't cost us a thing. As much as you're ripping Holmgren about the current situation, you'd probably stroke out if Weber had signed with another team in the east.

Stand pat Flyers....resign MAB and Voracek. Make in season moves. Lava needs to get this team playing more of a consistent two way game, and holding all players accountable for it.

Anaheim has said they want a center, which is why Schenn & Couturier are mentioned in any possible deal.

Not the way I would do it. I don't want Schenn anywhere near the top pairing until he gets his confidence back. He had a very rough season last year, and needs to just play on the third pair and find some consistency in his game, imo. I think he can be a top 4 guy eventually, but I wouldn't start the season with him there unless he just blows me away in camp.

I would go with

Kimmo/Coburn
Meszaros/Grossmann
Schenn/(Gervais/Lilja/MAB/Gus)

That's a rock solid top 4, and a serviceable 3rd pairing. Barring any other moves, that's about the best we can hope for right now. Of course this assumes everyone is healthy to start the season, which as they say, is a big IF.

still think the dominoes from the JVR move limited homer to some degree. maybe the fall back for the OS match would have been more favorable...hated that move for value reasons as well.
