if the Flyers stay as is, are you excited for the season?
- LJF

Sure. Why not. It's not like the Flyers will ice a terrible team. They are probably a 90+ point team as is.

Heading into the TDL with a good amount of cap space won't be a bad thing.

I'll be excited for the season when I know there will be a season.

obviously it sucks not to get weber, but there's a lot of good young pieces on this team. plenty to be excited about (even if they don't appear to be one of the top cup contending teams on paper right yet)

I know but the frustration is getting the best of me. Not saying the cup was the Flyers for sure if they got Weber, but it was exciting to think about.

Not that Nashville will want to deal with Homer again but if they did would be interesting they'd want to move one of Jonathon Blum or Roman Josi

Who knows, maybe this was the only way Poile could get the Nashville owners to actually agree on big money to a franchise player. He may not be overly annoyed after all.

in 2/3 years people will be glad that schenn x2 and couts giroux are flyers...This team will absolutely dominate the east. it stings now, trust me.

clearly a gigantic stretch

but i agree with the overall sentiment, the flyers have a very talented young core. and it's gonna be exciting to see them develop together

they're gonna need a big piece on d, however, before they can take that next step. maybe not weber big, but big

Absolutely. For as long as I can remember, Flyers have tried to buy big money agents to get them over the hump. This time it has failed, but they have shown faith in the young players. Let them play this season with house money, and lets see what they got. Not all of Simmer,JV,Schenns,Cout and Read are going to be studs. I cant wait to find out which ones will.

Fkyers are done at this point unless they sign Doan. If they sign Doan they make a run at Ryan since they could move a forward or 2. Just not enough up fromt to go for Ryan.

It sucks. Not going to lie. Having that elite player on the blueline makes a team that much closer to reaching the pinnacle.

Very rarely does a team win the Cup without that 25+ minute a night monster on the backend. Flyers have no one resembling one of those guys.

A big piece on D would certainly help, but in the meantime, having a team-wide commitment to defensive play would be a bonus.

Not just his play, but the confidence it would have brought to the team. I also think Bryz is going to be much better this year and maybe having someone like Weber would take some pressure of him. But I guess onward and upward.

How'd all that calling Nashville's bluff work out?

Poile faces a tough road ahead, and honestly, the revenues need to increase. As much balls as it took for Holmgren to make the offer, it may have taken more for Nashville's owners to match it.

The good news?

Still have a talented young team, nice chunk of cap space and plenty of options. It's a disappointment that Weber won't be joining the party, but they still have a solid team.
