Anyone else see David Pagnotta's tweets??? WOW!
"So it seems the one word Weber feels about the Preds matching the offer is "surprised"
"As @DennisTFP & I discussed offline, seems the Preds, Flyers, and Weber aren't over thrilled about this whole turn of events. #greatsituation"
I'm befuddled. If the Preds are pissed and Shea is pissed (obviously the Flyers are pissed) then pardon my language, but what the (frank) gives here? Were their ego's bruised that badly? If the situation sucks for every party involved including yourselves, why the (frank) would you match? This is going to have a very bad ending for them. Should have taken the picks. - Flyers1218

I don't know. Dreger let on too that Weber is surprised. And by the tone of things, surprised doesn't seem to mean pleasantly. When he signed this offer sheet, this was always an option, but it really seems like he thought for whatever reason from somewhere that there was no chance Preds could or would touch this. And it seems like the Preds aren't too confident they made the right decision. From reading the overall tone of all the tweets, I'm getting the impression that even the Preds know they just ended their franchise. - Flyers1218
ha...i dont know....if the bratty billionare owner wants to put up his dough for this well.....why the hell not? |

I would have been ok with Schenn Brothers + 2 1sts for Weber. - PT21
I think everyone would have asked "Why" and say Nashville would never have matched it.
I think Luke Schenn is going to be a lot better than most think. All the feedback on him is from a Toronto fanbase that's just as hard on their players as Philly. Go ahead and ask an average Philly fan about Carter, it's not a great recomendation. It's kinda like that. Schenn is not Matt Carle in terms of Puck moving skills, but he's a much harder guy to play against.
I think we are looking at whether Gus, Gervais or Bourdon can step up with some puck moving ability. |

At the current moment these are two new teams that haven't faced each other yet. As you just said what happened the year before means nothing.
EDIT: That said, I do believe they are going to freight train through the East and win the CONFERENCE by 15-20 points. They are that much better than everybody in the East right now. |

Until they win again against them they are at the moment a better team on the ice, that can change in time. |

I know this could happen, but I'm surprised. We have to give it to Homer for trying. IMO no way to they trade any of our starting d-men for Ryan, that just makes no sense. The d isn't that deep to be able to give up one of our top d-men.

Nash, Gaborik, Richards, Callahan, Kreider, Hagelin, Stepan, and Boyle are every bit as potent as Giroux, Hartnell, Briere, Simmonds, Couterier, Schenn, Voracek, and Read. I even give the Rangers an edge. - Flyers1218
I don't agree, and Gaborik is going to miss half to three quarters of the season. |

That was before Richards arrived and before McDonagh blossomed, transforming offense and D resp. Now they have added Nash and Kreider since we last met while getting rid of one guy who was inconsequential (Dubie) in the last season and one 2nd/3rd line guy. You figure it out. |

meszaros and a 2nd for jaybo? - flyerscup2011
Do not understand the fascination with JayBo. He brings absolutely nothing we do not already have, other than a massively overpriced cap hit. Meszaros is better at almost every facet of the game than JayBo is right now. And if he's not better in a particular area, he's damn close, and we already have him. Moving him to acquire a guy who costs more, is older, and can't do anything better than he can doesn't make much sense to me.
Age:
Meszaros: 26
JayBo: 28
Cap Hit:
Meszaros: $4M
JayBo: $6.68M
Points & GP:
Meszaros: 7G, 18A in 62 games
JayBo: 5G, 24A in 82 games
+/-
Meszaros: +6
JayBo: -21
Number of people that have called them soft and easy to play against:
Meszaros: Nobody
JayBo: Everybody

if 1/1000000 they decide to not pony up the 13 million right away then the match is negated.
I guess if weber really start female doging and burning bridges they might back down... |

There is no cap in the new CBA, GMs have to fight to the death for a player. |

I took it much better until I've been seeing what some people in the hockey world have been saying. I know his agents are smoothing everything over with Nashville and their media currently, but from many accounts Weber is "surprised" (pissed) and the Preds aren't thrilled themselves. What the hell. I'm sorry this makes no sense to me. If you don't think this is a good move for your franchise, why would you make it? Are they that dumb? |
