lets not despair folks....the future is looking good.....
LETS GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Philly1980
Dude, I actually have not one ounce of despair left in me now. I'm dead serious, carry on, rival fans troll away, my confidence has become impeccable once again, good day, no need to waste any more bandwith.
Well in his proposal, trading Read, waiving or trading Shelly, and Lilja. Adding Doan for 6.5M and Ryan for 5.1M. Would leave the Flyers with $3,865,556 of Cap space. With Voracek still needing to be re-signed. - MJL
oh ok. I bow to the resident Capologist.
Honestly, if I were the Rangers, I overpay Doan and get him, whatever it takes. Knock his socks off. They will have to pay McDonagh next year and Girardi the year after that. Who knows how much the cap comes down. They lost purely because they could not score enough, everything else: D, goalie, team game, grit, etc was very good. Now they have the cash to plug this one and only hole. Its not often a team gets this kind of a chance in the parity era.
i think the flyers should make a push for doan, resign voracek and stand pat. sometimes that's the best move, we have a great offense and our defense will be better this year. sure we could use a puck moving dman, but that can wait and maybe a good one will be available mid-season or at the tdl. this team is still very strong and who cares if we don't go into the season as cup favorites, how has that served us in the past 37 years? keep our picks, keep our young talent, tweak the system slightly to be more defensive and be a pain in the ass to play against
Homer's balls have deflated a bit, but rest assured, they will be back and they will be bigger than ever. And if I were the rest of the league, I'd be afraid of turning around and seeing a big Homer ball coming right at me. It could happen at any time. - feelingkettle
Maybe your the expert on balls I don't know but to put out that OS AND stick to your guns that your aren't trading the young nucleus of the team says more to me than panicking and getting howsened.
I am disappointed that they didn't get Weber but I am also relieved that they didn't trade the farm so to speak.
I got different results. Adding Voracek at 4M puts them over the Cap. - MJL
*Note: some alterations to original plan*
7,806,627 cap space
Waive Jody Shelley
Trade Lilja to Islanders
Trade Read, MAB, 1st, 3rd (To anyone: is this deal feasible after Ranger deal good or bad?) to Anaheim for Bobby Ryan
Say Flyers went to the dreaded 4 years on Doan and signed him for 24MM or 6.25MM per year (purposes of giving him the years he wants and us the hit we'd need )
Sign Jake to a 5 year 19MM deal
Rinaldo in minors
Overage in the offseason to cover the difference, Pronger LTIR in season. Gus the 7th defenseman.

NTC/NMC could b added 2 Weber's deal. But, WHY!! would the Predators include it. They don't have 2. Teams only include that when they have 2.
Am I missing something here? - stveshdy
Possibly. the agent says they want to talk NMC/NTC tomorrow (because Weber doesn't want to be at the mercy of the Preds needs for the next 14 years). But the NMC/NTC cannot be part of the OS, so if the Flyers had a handshake deal to add it, it certainly isn't something the Preds can be held to. It is in the Preds interest for any future trade to be solely at their discretion, maximizing his value some time in the future when they may have developed more D (not unlikely considering their track record) and want to use him as a chip to fill needs.

Neither do I....Personally this is going to be a boost for the young guys. It says to them that in Homers eyes both of them are more valuable than weber. Thanks god homer stood pat. Cant cry about loosing what we never had, but if we lost the schenn brothers or couts i would have felt worse than what i feel now...

I would have been ok with Schenn Brothers + 2 1sts for Weber.
A lot of people wanted this team to grow together and keep the core intact before the offer sheet well Homer did exactly that. Homer refused to get rid of his young guns. I'm not sure what the next move is but the Flyers will still have a solid team heading into next season. I don't think this team is complete yet so I do expect one more move from Holmgren.
