If you could make the moves of:

Doan 3 years 19.5 MM

Ryan: Read, MAB, 1st, 3rd (seeing as they get Visnovsky back. Young D-man whose cheap, young 25 goal scorer whose cheap, and 1st round pick and 3rd rd picks)

Would you? (Side note: this isn't not saying Anaheim or Flyers or Doan would. Just gauging how people felt).

Next question is would the Islanders take a look at Lilja once they lose Visnovsky for a nothing prospect?
Anyway, would people on here be ok with this?

Hartnell Giroux Ryan
Simmonds Briere Doan
Jake Couterier Schenn
Fedotenko Talbot Wellwood

Coburn Grossman
Schenn Mezzy
Timonen Gervais

(It can be done, but Lilja would HAVE to be off the team and Shelley waived.

Why trade for Ryan when you can put an offer sheet out for Evander Kane?

I think the offer sheet door has been kicked the heck open

- aosplayo

I know what you mean. Don't see the Flyers going that route again. Plus Winnipeg just offered a nice little contract. See them matching quickly.

For which, the banks like to collect interest. They really like it when the EBITDA is much greater than the I.

Just bustin' your balls.

What this says is that the billionaire guy is going to put in a bunch of cash and get a greater percentage of the ownership. He must have significant liquidity and believe that his equity value in his primary business will be strong over the long haul (unlike Research in Motion, which, five years ago you would have thought would be around forever rather than seemingly beginning its end phase - can anyone say Treo?). The Predators will be his toy. Unless they win a Cup or two SOON, even under relatively favorable conditions, it is unlikely the team will be cash flow positive for at least 5 or 6 years. That is a long time to be eating cash. Clearly, while a significant financial decision, I doubt it was one made with the concept of MAKING money.

- GeorgeBailey

Many billionaire owners have teams as their toys. I never said anything about making money. Assuming your speculation is true, in this case, the bank was Wilson. He put up the money and got as return/collateral ownership and bragging rights.

You would have to re-sign Voracek pretty cheaply. And keep in mind that Cap space has to be reserved for injuries and call ups.

There doesn't need to be an agreement. There is only how it is. And that's that Lilja was exactly what he was brought in to be. A veteran depth defenseman, who can play and won't kill you out there. If you were expecting more, then it is the expectations that are the issue.

They lost Carle, so there are some puck movement elements that are missing. But there is also an opportunity for other players such as Meszaros. You never know how a mix of players is going to turn out.

I'm tending to think the things the Flyers have been running from all these years, like being patient and trusting young players to develop, might be forced upon them this year, thus being their true deliverance.
- JoeRussomanno

I don't think it's being forced on them. I think they want to do this. I'm extremely impressed with how highly gaurded Coots and now the Schenn's are. It's truly refreshing. I was part of the call Nashville's bluff camp as I didn't want to see the Schenn's traded. There is a good young core. I think adding Doan will be good for it, but I'd like a priority of this offseason (after finishing this year's team) to be to lock up Hartnell. He is as important a piece to this team as any other.

Even then I don't see how that could be done. Doan+Voracek+Ryan would be 16 m, I assume. Out goes about 2 mil in MAB,Read,Lilja.

I pulled it off on cap geek. What makes it tough is you can't expect the injuries to be LTIR injuries you know what I mean. This is a signing of Jake at 4MM per year, but only leaves Flyers with 410,000 and no 7th dman or 13th forward. Not sure it's feasible, but I didn't want to put together a roster with Jake making 3.5 and Doan 5.5 because I think 4 is what Jake gets and Doan a ton as Rags, Pens, Nucks, Phoenix, and Flyers all want him. Your opinion?

Well in his proposal, trading Read, waiving or trading Shelly, and Lilja. Adding Doan for 6.5M and Ryan for 5.1M. Would leave the Flyers with $3,865,556 of Cap space. With Voracek still needing to be re-signed.

I got different results. Adding Voracek at 4M puts them over the Cap.
