you should get a Flyers Weber jersey with 20% on the back instead of #6 - Crimsoninja
I'm not afraid to make a prediction and unfortunately I was wrong. I'm eating crow but Homer did exactly what I said, stand pat and force them to match.
Your star player punched another player in the jewels. I can't debate a Pens fan until an admission that such an act is not so cool. - Daman
neither of these teams are angels. they are both some of the dirtiest ones in the league, especially when they play each other. i would not defend that action in the slightest though. crosby does not have a halo above his helmet, no matter how badly gary bettman would like there to be one. however, nor do hartnell or giroux.
No-one said Jake... Said read and Bourdon. - RooNosHockey
I personally would not give up Read. He had 24 goals last year and could potentially hit 30+ this year with the absence of JVR and Jagr. he only has a 900,000 cap hit.

haha didnt mean to rip you or suggest you eat crow
i actually respected how you stood firm.. and homer did too.. just as you suggested
To me, it was never a question if Preds could match but one of the economic wisdom of doing it versus the hockey/PR need to keep their franchise player. That's why, all along, I said a no-match trade would be best route to go for both sides.
There really isn't much for Preds to "celebrate" here, as this move basically undoes their improved financials (especially if there's a lockout of any length) and yet only leaves the team with a lessened version of 2011-12 status quo (still have Weber but Suter is gone).
Meanwhile, the Preds are on the hook for $33M to two players over the next 11 months, plus their other 2012-13 payroll, plus they need to prepare for having up to 12 free agents next summer.
Financially, the Preds' decision to match and operate even deeper off the owners' personal wealth while sponging off revenue shares is about as questionable as it comes. - bmeltzer
Yea, they're sure to attract all the free agents now. Nashville has shown it can play with the big boys... letting other teams negotiate their contracts
IMO a fan of a franchise that has enjoyed an inordinate amount of success over the past 20 years doesn't have the right to tell a fan of a team who hasn't enjoyed the success how to feel. Just my opinion, you or anyone else doesn't have to agree. - PLindbergh31
if thats your logic then fine. im not trying to start anything. although it sucks to admit but although the flyers havent been able to seal the deal in the post season, they are consistently one of the most competitive and successful teams in the entire league year in and year out. the pens have been a much smaller market who were fortunate enough to not only get mario back in the day, but have him act in the manner in which he did to help the team stay afloat.

Hartnell, pound for pound, may be the worst fighter in the league. However, when he fights:
1) it is always face to face
2) punches are never of the donkey punch variety
99% of the league adheres to such rules. One player, with phonetically a girl's name, does not.
Because of this fact, I can't debate a wester PA hockey fan.

It's cool. No worries. My apologies for suggesting your opinion wasn't valid. That was out of line.
last legs there...wearing down a little like kimmo - isaiah520
Not that I disagree but he can still move the puck and is good at both ends of the ice. Flyers can only go after players that are available. I just hope Bouwmeester doesn't become an option now.

I tweeted that today might be looked upon as the one where the preds took a time released cyanide capsule
can't recall that I've had any more than anyone else here, including you.
if the flyers add the right dman, they're right there, but these plyrs are hard to find. - isaiah520
I don't make premature predictions on whether a player is a good player or not, before he even plays a game. Especially based on what a media member says. I let the player actually play and see him play before making that analysis. Nor am I prepared to say that right now the Flyers can't contend.

Might as well go after J-Bo now.
Tell Homer to go home tonight, pound a couple Tequila shots (today's the day?), drink a 12 pack, and start NHL beer goggling.
