Yes you are. What are their total cap hit? 13 mill. You wanna give up Jake for that? I don't.

I dont think the Flyers are done at Goalie either... Anyone think Steve Mason might be worth a look.

This would never happen. It's just a question. Say like Dreger said that Weber is stunned and pissed. And when Poile called he flat out told them I'm not playing with your team. Could Nashville rescind its match since we are still within 7 days?

(For the record, I'm sure Nashville knows whether or not Weber is cool with it before they filed the paperwork)

I would've been more upset if I had to watch Couturier or Schenn develop elsewhere. And if Weber didn't win us a cup, people would complain about him.

- feelingkettle

There's the silver lining. We already seen the future glimpse of Couturier and what he can become. But mark my words. In the next few years, fans are going to be raving over how good B Schenn is going to be.

How do you want to look at not getting Weber? At the positives or the negatives. And it is very much a choice.

Why should anyone "come clean"? Because they truly believed Nashville couldn't match? Seems Homer didn't believe they could either. It blows and a lot of this season will be thinking what could have been, but hey, we knew this was possible. What scares me now is that Homer has been shutout. He never gets shutout. I'm afraid he makes quick and drastic moves.
- Flyers1218

Not sure who they were, but people were insistent that Philadelphia had all the power. It was a bit of a joke really.

Why can't people admit when they were wrong, or dead wrong? I'll admit I didn't think they would even go the offer sheet route.

But then again, my prediction of Bobby Ryan is still looking mighty fine. Real fine.

Had this opinion been put forth by a Blues fan, or Caps fan it might have some merit. A Penguins fan, not so much.
- PLindbergh31

okay. please explain how being a penguins fan prohibits my view from having any merit? and please, none of the "your captain is a sissy" arguments either. i understand that the penguins as an organization had a lot of trouble for a stretch. but thats my point. ownership BLEW for the penguins then. they literally gave away player for pennies on the dollar just to not have to pay them. the flyers have NEVER had that issue, nor forced fans to settle or swallow anything less than their best effort to win. sure, sometimes it doesnt work out, but effort followed by failure is not comparable to a total lack of effort.

They're done at Goalie. They didn't sign Leighton to play in the minors.

Your star player punched another player in the jewels. I can't debate a Pens fan until an admission that such an act is not so cool.

IMO a fan of a franchise that has enjoyed an inordinate amount of success over the past 20 years doesn't have the right to tell a fan of a team who hasn't enjoyed the success how to feel. Just my opinion, you or anyone else doesn't have to agree.

Like I said it would be tight, but if the Flyers waive Shelly, Walker, Sign V to 3.250, and play schenn 1 game in the minors while LTIR Pronger, They would be about 1 million under the cap.

Again, are we going to make assumptions before the Season starts? Last year it was certain players stink. Let's let the Goalie, who although he had overall a sub par year, did show how good he can be, play the games. And is a proven Goalie in the League. And the Flyers have a solid defense core. One of the better ones in the League. I don't know how many times one has to be burnt by premature predictions.

can't recall that I've had any more than anyone else here, including you.

if the flyers add the right dman, they're right there, but these plyrs are hard to find.

To me, it was never a question if Preds could match but one of the economic wisdom of doing it versus the hockey/PR need to keep their franchise player. That's why, all along, I said a no-match trade would be best route to go for both sides.

There really isn't much for Preds to "celebrate" here, as this move basically undoes their improved financials (especially if there's a lockout of any length) and yet only leaves the team with a lessened version of 2011-12 status quo (still have Weber but Suter is gone).

Meanwhile, the Preds are on the hook for $33M to two players over the next 11 months, plus their other 2012-13 payroll, plus they need to prepare for having up to 12 free agents next summer.

Financially, the Preds' decision to match and operate even deeper off the owners' personal wealth while sponging off revenue shares is about as questionable as it comes.
