im sorry but really? youre going to bemoan how Poile acted in all of this? - stayinthefnnet
that's not the point. his point is that the flyers are hapless and inept, and he wants to let everyone know that he's a like to be a miserable douchebag on the internet. |

All jokes aside, this could have had a worse ending. Had Holmgren traded Schenn and Couturier in a package for Weber, it wouldn't have been good.
Disappointing day, not the end of the world.
I love how everyone takes jokes so seriously. |

Weber. He wasn't happy w/status of team, especially after Suter left. |

Yea, the guy is going to sign a contract giving him $110M and he's going to get a 13M dollar check very soon. And you think he's frustrated? Seriously.
Make no mistake about it. Weber's primary goal was to get the deal he got.

I was able to find a current picture of Holmgren...

Didn't think it was possible but you've sunk to a new low with the completely tasteless and thinly veiled racial discrimination there. Well done Trollbergh31.

the routine got old years ago bro
probably around the time you spent all of 2010 calling the team 'gutless pukes' and then hopped right back on the bandwagon when they went to the finals |

I expect all the posters that said Philadelphia has all the power to come clean.
Next target - Ryan.
WTF has Da Man been telling you all along?

Good day! Cheers! - Daman
Why should anyone "come clean"? Because they truly believed Nashville couldn't match? Seems Homer didn't believe they could either. It blows and a lot of this season will be thinking what could have been, but hey, we knew this was possible. What scares me now is that Homer has been shutout. He never gets shutout. I'm afraid he makes quick and drastic moves.

Do you think the Flyer might try and get Iginla and Boemeister(sp) our of Calgary for cheap? If it only cost you like Read, Bourdon, and a 2nd I might be willing to do it. Sure it would eat a lot of cap, but you better your team significantally. Might be overpayment.. |

When he signed the offer sheet he had to know that Nashville matching was a possibility.
When someone is getting 27 million in the next calendar year to play a sport they love, he is neither disappointed or disgruntled. It's not like he's going to play hockey in Iraq. |

For the money Weber is getting he will be just fine in Nashville. |

for the forwards, yes, but on d, there are real issues now and going forward. |

yeah well not to be a Richard but obviously im glad it worked out that you guys didnt get him. but i know it does suck. a lot of pens fans had parise virtually penciled in as well.
haha but yeah. i wish the flyers were as inept as he believes. it was scumbag move to offer the contract in that manner, but still showed such determination for improvement. and ultimately, the team lost nothing. this is a ridiculously scary group that is only going to get exponentially better. |

There were days of discussion on the Weber deal. I don't know anyone who was right about everything. I thought in the beginning they were going to match. But in the last few days I truly thought the Flyers were getting Weber. And I thought a trade was definitely going to be made. I was wrong about that. Along with everyone else.

scumbag move is a little harsh, but i'd feel the same way if i were a preds fan probably. all within the rules and a really good idea by holmgren. shame it didn't work out. |

I disagree. The Flyers still have a solid and deep defensive core. And they have the ability to make moves in the future. Holmgren will get done what needs to get done.
