Stay put unless you can improve the 3rd or 4th line. $8 million to play with at the deadline. - jstross
Sign Dominc Moore, and lets play some hockey. Doan and Ryan will cost too much. We'll have plenty of cap space to make a splash at the deadline.

For the average player. Nash is not the average player. He is an upper echelon talent. - MJL
i was referring to the graphs of the top-100 scorers ever. |

Maybe not sign anyone. Just re-sign our RFAs and let's see what these young kids can do. You're going to tell me with 7.8 in cap plus pronger on LTIR and the drops(Shelley walker) we couldn't get two or three players at the TDL. Plus all our picks. |

I hear thee, I just like Moore, he would be the top FO man on the team at a 55% clip, and I like to have Talbot on Couturier wing, I think they work well together. |

Thats the risk I was willing to take. I said that earlier when the offer sheet was sent. Can't be afraid to lose Weber. |

the flyers needed a top 4 dman they even before carle left. homer made his move, but it didnt work, so now what?
they say you cant lose what you never had, but given how close we came and the dearth of options, this feels like an epic loss. |

Fully agree. This situation was a no-lose for Homer, save for the gnashing of teeth on the interwebs. Moving on... |

So trade for Weber next offseason.
I know the money is green in both cities but if he really was looking forward to getting out the "status-quo" in Nashville, his contract can't make it any easier to upgrade the team. |

Poile will further extend the (frank) you to the offer sheet and trade Weber to Pittsburgh after a year. |

Fair to say Weber and those close to him are surprised Preds matched. You don't sign a sheet like that if you expect the team to match.
I kind of agree with him but it is what it is at this point. |

This better not equal doan. He will be vastly overpaid - Just5
Rangers will use their 13 million in cap space to sign Doan, don't worry. |

The Flyers didn't lose anything here. You can lose what you never had to begin with.
Homer took a great shot at a great defenseman. I hope this works out well for Nashville and for Weber.

You need more then Cap space to get top players at the deadline.

Just what the Preds need. A disgruntled star player/captain making $26mm next year. |

I agree. They took a shot but Homer stayed realistic to what he was willing to trade. |

Holy backtracking batman.
This was a kick to the nuts. But we all should have known that Nashville could have matched the offer, and without enough return, would do so.
Locking up Weber would have been awesome. But this is Philadelphia. We are used to disappointments. We excel at it. Now we can move forward as the second or third best team in the Eastern Conference. - Daman
ain't that the truth. I see our D as very weak this year. |

Poile played hard ball. Never even picked the phone up to discuss a trade by all reports, he let Holmgren twist in the wind for 5 days, and in the meantime the Rags acquired Nash for a pile of poop.
Kicked in the teeth yet again, what else is new.
Thank God football training camp starts in a few days. |
