This is where I am.. work out a fair trade and everyone move forward. PS: I'd take Weber over Nash in a heartbeat regardless if we got him on the cheap like the Rangers did.
- Hextall271

Some clown on twitter was trying to tell me that he would take Dubinsky and Anisimov over Nash "any day of the week"

And it wasnt Howson..

Unfortunately I think that will mean Mezzy or Jake. Not both tho like so many are predicting. I really don't want to lose Mezzy. He's underrated offensively in my mind and I think keeping him and Weber would really open things up all over the ice. I think he's primed for a bigger role in the coming years as well. With Kimmo almost done I just really don't want to give him, or any of he other defensive vets up

But yeah, I could see Jake and MAB going back for one of the firsts, and a later round pick if that would clear enough money for Doan.

- hereticpride

If it's one or the other, I'm a happy man.

It's Shea Weber. I'd do both him and Jake and MAB or Gus in a heartbeat.

If the Flyers get him for Voracek, Meszaros and 2 1sts, it's very similar to what the Rangers gave up, IMO

They can have all the meetings they want, the fact still remains the sam, if they could match they would of, IMO. This is your franchise defenseman there's no way you wait this long if you can lock him up. 26m in 11 months is a lot of money for any team. With the lockout looming theres a serious financial risk. Homer has them by the stones.
- stveshdy

I really think a big part of this is that it seems that they have pissed off their captain and franchise player. I am sure he will be professional and play if they match, but you want your team leader to kind of be on board with the franchise. He's outright said that Philly is where he'd like to be. That adds pressure to the Preds like crazy IMO and must have royally angered management. Fine if it's your 3rd line winger, but this is a guy you are building your team around and will have to pay 50 + Mil the next 4 years? And he wants to leave?

My call is we will see a trade. I just hope Homer doesn't give too much.

listening to The Orange Report podcast last nite - which had call-ins from David boreanaz and Dustin lead - there was obviously a lot of discussion about nash/weber and where they fit in w/ there respective teams.

re weber, most interesting for me was the preds blogger -whose name escapes me- who thinks that the preds won't/can't match. he thinks the preds will take the picks and immediately use them to make trades, not necessarily w/ the flyers, to fill out the roster.

when boreanaz was on, most of the discussion centered around what it would take to insure weber was a flyer should a trade scenario arise and also the team's depth chart in the aftermath.

Lead's segment was a brief, but informative recapitulation of the topics discussed.

Thats a better package than the Rags gave up, but thats just because Howson is inept.

IF the Flyers get Weber the Atlantic Divison will feature the likes of:
Crosby, Malkin, Giroux, Weber, Gaborik, Lundqvist, Nash, Tavares.

The preds could get some good players with those picks. Im sure wed give up Jake for one, they could get JBO, and enter the Bobby Ryan sweeps........lots of options for them that will allow them to distribute that money rather than bank into 1 superduper star.........

Bill, Rupp is still there. The Rags lost Prust, now Dubinsky. They did acquire Asham as well as Michael Haley. Neither as good as a hockey player, but they add grit.

Good call. I was wondering about this as well.

I'll tell you.. I really like both players, however I would do that in an instant. We NEED Weber. Also, its so much easier to fill a void at Wing than it is to get a dman. Look at last year with Jagr and also, look at us speaking with Doan. It cna be done.

Why wld CLB trade Nash before Weber fate is decided? If Weber stays in NSH, PHI would likely increase Nash offers. No?
Thanks!

Great stuff, as usual.

I think it's similar, especially based on stats and developmental patterns. Anisimov and Voracek are similar producers through their careers, although Jake has a higher ceiling.

Meszaros and Dubinsky are both inconsistent guys that have shown flashes, and who have had good seasons, and the regressed. Erixon is a highly skilled kid that needs to mature, both physically and mentally.

The proposed Flyers package is slightly better, but it's not leaps and bounds better

Why continue waiting is how i saw them thinking. They tried to work out a deal, but couldnt agree on anything. NYR had what seems like the same offer they have been pushing all along still open, and that moron Howson finally said yes.

looks like clay might be left at the harbor. but seriously, the eagles need a TE that can block and control DEs at the point of attack in the red zone...need a blocking back as well...and a real b/u QB...now back to the weber watch

Also sounded like Howson really wanted at least one center. Flyers obviously weren't giving them any, so there really wasn't a deal to be made with Philly regardless of the Weber outcome.
