Even if Nashville matches, I'm still buying a Weber Flyers jersey. F' it

A lot of posturing as the deadline looms. I could see some offers for trades late tomorrow etc.. both sides thinking the other will blink. Homer knows what he can give and I doubt it's Cooter and schenn.

due to the circumstances surrounding, ryan's value should have been higher in the first place, imo. not sure whether yesterday's deal helped or hurt it, though. i just can't see teams parting with four assets like that for ryan even though he's arguably a better player, making 2.7 less per year. nash has this superstar reputation, ryan just doesn't, imo. at least not on nash's level (perception-wise), so i feel like someone doesn't pony up something similar.

I don't expect Ryan to get the same quantity of players. But I expect him to get better quality based on the circumstances. In my opinion Nash is easily the better player then Ryan.

Brett Wilson did NOT say don't pack your bags just yet. The account posting to him did.

All he said was that Nashville owners covet the cup and have "deep pockets". More talk.

Plus it was 4 days ago.

according to dreger on the radio yesterday, holmgren offered read, mez, 1st, 2 seconds, and a third. why would he now offer more than that just to recoup some picks? either nash matches or they don't, imo.

too much for me

I love Weber but not for that package at this point

- Marc D

Absolutely.

Also, if the report that Poile is still stuck on Couturier and Schenn, Homer should just tell him to feel free to match.

You're not the brightest bulb in the box, are you?

Anyone with half a brain would have realized the moment Sather said "We kicked the hell out you twice in the Stanley Cup", he spoke truly.

Both the '85 Oilers and their '87 counterparts did, in fact, kick the the hell out of 'you' in the Finals.

- Anarion

I did realize that, but is he not a Ranger GM now? So when he said "we", it references the Rangers. It's just telling that he thinks himself more ov an Oiler then a Ranger, even after all this time. lol

This Wilson guy might have money but if this was an easy decision this would of been done already b/c its their franchise player on the line. I don't believe a word that comes out of Nashville right now.

With multiple owners of their team these things can be unbelievably complicated... its more then just coming up with the cash.

Maybe.. on the Nash thread, apparently Preds owner Brett wilson tweeted that the owners have deep pockets, covet the cup as much as anyone and for Weber not to pack his bags yet.
- Hextall271

yeah i read that also...put your money where your mouth is...im sure they all covet cups but signing weber to that deal pretty much ensures that they cant field a more competitive than they did last year.

.. and he was speaking at the event representing the Rangers as THEIR gm.

Also, I find it funny that he considers the 7 game war in 87 as "kicking the hell" out of the Flyers.

- Hextall271

The entire banter was tongue in cheek in preparation for the Alumni game. I can't believe anyone is taking that seriously.

Agreed. Homer isn't about charity at this point. We gave you an offer prior and you didn't take it, so now deal with the aftermath of the offer sheet if you decide to match.

I disagree, but quality of teammates is a valid argument.

Also can't discount Ryan being three years younger and significantly more affordable.

Yup. Internal divide very possible. I'm sure Wilson and others want to keep him, but I doubt all owners feel that way.

The more hands in the pot the more difficult it is to get everyone on board.

I would be okay if in the negotiations it Homer added Voracek to that just to get it done.

Yes, Ryan being younger and affordable plays into it. But what also plays into it is that Nash is signed for the next 6 years, while Ryan is for only 3.

Seriously, I'm tired of hearing about Mr. Wilson. Front all the money for the entire contract and tell your other owners dont worry I got it. You know why b/c he doesn't got the stones to do it.
