Accept your not dealing with Howson here. I think the Nash deal does put more pressure on Homer. I don't see Nashville doing any trade that does not include one of Coots or B Schenn. - Leafs24seven
Coots is likely out of the question. The Flyers don't NEED defense this year. Next year, with Kimmo likely retiring, is a different story. But Weber, as elite as he is, is simply an extremely welcomed luxury; not a necessity. Coots, a young and cost-effective center, is viewed as the future #2 center on this team for years to come. There's absolutely no reason for Homer to feel pressured to give up Coots in a trade for Weber.
Whether or not the Preds match, the Flyers should feel comfortable with standing pat. If they feel pressured to up their offer, they just need to stick to their guns in terms of their "untouchables" list. If the Preds end up matching, all you can say is "Good Fight, Homer." |

Change of subject. Speaking of Doan, can anyone throw in a name or two for a list of "playoff warriors". Not necessarily the best skilled guys on the ice, but guys that will cut off their arm to win the cup.
Most recently, Doan and Kopitar looked awesome. Mark Messier. These types. Guys that play hard, make life hell, and most importantly, really bring it when it counts.
Feel free to add.

Claude Giroux. From his antics in the 2009 playoff series against the Pens, to the "shift" in 2010 against Boston in Game 7 where he held the puck for a minute from three Bruins, to his overtime goal in Game 4, and the shift from 2012 against the Pens.

can't believe i typed champing at the bit - OrangeBlack27
You didn't. I just couldn't stand letting it be there all wrong.
Horses champ at the bit (play with it with their lips and tongues when they are nervous or excited) they do not chomp at it (because they have no teeth where the bit fits). It's one of those things that makes me nuts. Like a former asst who used to say "It's either feast or phantom." Or Ant saying "I had a pit in my stomach." |

I thought the "shift' was reserved for Richards in 2010 against the Habs..... |

My avatars match my current moods. I was sad after the Flyers loss, so I became blue man. Now I'm just fed up with people's self righteous BS, so this may stay or go. If we get Weber it might be changed again by Thursday.
So Blue man may be back, but it would be bad for the Flyers if he is... |

Especially considering the fact that the word champing is practically dead. Its only real current use is in that idiom. |

Which is why he stays in Nashville. Poile believes he can get those 2 then he can build a great future. They have so much defensive talent that can grow with these 2. If not they lock up the best dman in the game. We aren't waiting for Poile to cave. Nashville is waiting for Homer to cave. |
