Any word on Weber yet?

How many picks would we get under the proposed offer sheet? May be worth it, and not the worse case scenario.

Why would Jake sign an OS?

That need to be factored in when discussing such course of action.

I agree. Either your getting above his value in picks, or Peds do the Flyers a favor and sign him long term for us.

I was responding to a hypothetical. You responded with another hypothetical.

This is over my pay grade, and intelligence level (quite frankly). As Mark Cuban would say on the ST, "For that reason, I'm out".

If the money is drastically different it would make sense.

not sure people realize the player actually has to SIGN the offer sheet. i'm sure jake would be champing at the bit to leave the flyers for a depleted nashville roster for a couple more bucks.

Jake would most likely bring back a 1 and 3.

Not worth losing for that. Although a Nashville #1 could be high in the draft (like a first pick in the draft). Change my mind - let Chek go in this imaginary state of hockey signings.

There is no need for the Pred's to negotiate a trade...until today, when all 10 owners or their reps get together and look at the finances. If the Answer is No then Im sure Poile starts to Push the Flyers for their best deal....If thats better for them then 4 first rounders then thats the way they go....
But honestly the stakes are just to high for the Preds to let this guy go.
I think sometime today they announce they have matched.
I hope Im wrong.
They already know where Weber stands.....They know where the Flyers stand....now Poile just has to get his Owner (s) input. Shortly there after this saga is over.

I have to give Nashville credit bc they have left everyone in the dark with this decision. Weber, his agent, and Flyers have all heard nothing. I'm amazed nothing has leaked.
- stveshdy

First rule of negotiations is to freeze the other side on their position. My guess is Poile will make his best offer around noon tomorrow. Will give Holmgren the afternoon to think about it and discuss it with his people. In this kind of negotiation you can never bluff.

Change of subject. Speaking of Doan, can anyone throw in a name or two for a list of "playoff warriors". Not necessarily the best skilled guys on the ice, but guys that will cut off their arm to win the cup.

Most recently, Doan and Kopitar looked awesome. Mark Messier. These types. Guys that play hard, make life hell, and most importantly, really bring it when it counts.

Feel free to add.

Why would the Preds throw so much money towards a forward that hasn't proven himself yet? Especially after losing their #1 and #2 defenseman? Come on now...

think there are more attractive destinations that would maybe be calling: carolina, ottawa, detroit, etc.

If the Flyers get him for Voracek, Meszaros and 2 1sts, it's very similar to what the Rangers gave up, IMO
- Jsaquella

Except you're not dealing with Howson here. I think the Nash deal does put more pressure on Homer. I don't see Nashville doing any trade that does not include one of Coots or B Schenn.

Wouldn't the list be shorter if you listed Playoff Pansies instead? I have to imagine almost all players are willing to lay their body out for a chance to skate with the Cup, even if they've already won the Cup in the past.

Hockey's warriors:

Pronger
Kopitar

Messier

Please continue. These are the guys BTW that I want on my team. You can have your pretty boyz Nash all day long. Keep the list alive.

You just got DQ'ed. I'm talking about the stuff of legends...the stuff of lore. Guys you will tell your kids about. Maybe Kopitar and Doan don't belong on there...just a start.

He has very good potential, would be a great piece to build with, and need to reach the cap floor. Im not saying it would happen, or even that I could see it happening..
