So, if the rebuild is REALLY the route this team is intent on taking, why the crap don't we have the BEST available coach out there to teach our developing core? How much more does a better coach cost the team? $500k more? $1M more? For an organization losing tens of millions a year, unable to attract FA players to make them better immediately or via trade, what element could we possibly employ to help speed the process? We have a coach whose greatest asset is the economical nature of his contract and willingness to do what he's told. His predecessor was also unproven at the NHL level and inexpensive. The guy before him was ousted because he stood up for himself and wouldn't toe the line - but also an outcast and inexpensive.
I don't get it.
What IS this team's strategy? Hope the drafted players collectively become a powerhouse regardless of the coach(es) behind the bench? Cosmic alignment?
A rash of season-ending injuries throughout the rest of the Atlantic conference?
Because, in spite of what we are told, this team hasn't and isn't delivering on any of the areas we are told they are heading and many of the moves and decisions contradict what the mouthpieces spew.
I own my own business and am very aware of the money I spend and what I get back for it. Be it the merchandise I sell, the salary I pay employees, the value of the work they do and the feedback of my customers I serve. When any of those elements are out of whack or under-preforming, I make changes. Adapt or die. It's very simple.
And if this team were my business, there'd be balls in a sling and people sending out resumes on their way to the unemployment office. They may be fooling a lot of you out there and fooling themselves but they're not fooling me anymore. They deserve no excuses or pity. They have only themselves to blame. Even if shovels were in the ground, we'd still have issues making this team better. It's not Kate Murray's fault - hell, we even have to say it's no longer Milbury's fault (tho I love recanting all his antics) so stop making excuses for the fools who are trying to fool you.

Too bad the press and especially Howie Rose does not ask questions like this to Wang when he had the year end interview last year. Howie only like to take shots at the team when he thinks he's off air and not when the owner is sitting next to him. |

Bravo. No way I could have said it better. This is why there is a Wolfpack. It's not so much not being able to trade for a star player or having a big payroll. It's Wang doing the least amount of work possible and not caring enough to have a real coach. - ses111
I actually don't fault Wang for the coaching situation. That's Garth's job.
I fault Wang for hiring Garth, believing whatever BS he was fed and not having realized YET that he's getting a major snowjob. It's time for Garth to go. He clearly isn't doing enough. And if you are incapable, unless you're the son-in-law, you gotta go. |

I hear you but Wang as the owner can step in and tell Snow to get a better coach or again fire Snow if he is not happy. I have no doubt Snow does not want a bigger name coach to overshadow him. |

So much for George's sons not waiting to spend as much money. This day is getting better and better. Maybe there is time for a piano to fall on my head? |

Howie Rose shouldn't be the Islanders announcer...he's a Rangers fan...I don't think he's that good...ugly too...bring back John Sterling...GOAL...ISLANDERS GOAL!!!...the only thing is if they start the season with this group...there aren't going to be many goals... |

I agree with you on the coach. Cappy should not be coaching this team. It needs an established, veteran coach who has a track record of developing young players. This team has made very questionable coaching decisions since Nolan was fired. |

No I definitley don't believe this team has the means to spend near the ceiling. However, I do think the team is willing to address sensible acquisitions if it benefits the organization. Past offers have suggested the team is willing to spend on free agents but those free agents have gone elsewhere for less.
I think everyone realizes we won't see this ownerships full spending efforts until 2015 and I'd do the same damn thing if I were him. That said, blindly saying "we should of gotten a good defensemen" as though they're out there ripe for the picking is off the mark. The Isles couldn't make a Weber type offer to anyone. Certainly this ownership could never fork out $56 million over 3 years to a player.
So what are we left with? We're left with guys like Visnovsky. - keaner17

I was happy with the trade but suspicious of him not playing here. Was my point since day one saying it was just salary to reach the floor ala Thomas. Don't believe everything you read. |

Little Howie is a real tough guy. He would never take shots at the Mets. I'm a Met fan but they are no better than the Isles and they cannot use the excuse of having an old building.
