Take your pick Kasper. NO wonder they let Viz go. Not to shabby a group. Dont know about this guy Guenin though. Must be depth. - SCLI
I would go with Beuchmin or Allen no one else. Hey got to make this right no??

You mean like Nabokov? Who really gave us our only chance to win last year? Sure. He'll get, booed on opening night and deserve every second of it. Eventually he'll put up some points and all will be forgotten. Not saying I don't hate him for this, but we're not exactly in any position to be taking a moral high ground here. And especially not in any position to be blaming this on Snow. - eichiefs9
I for one knew Nabakov was goign to love it here this was the only place he had the chance to be the number one goalie again. Goaltending and defense are two totally different positions. |

I did like it. I do not like all the drama now though. I think as Isles fans we've been through enough drama to last a couple of lifetimes. We can all agree on that I think. - ses111
Agreed buddy enough of the crap already. I mean seriously who else dont want to play here. I think Garth should really talk tot he player before the trade and be like seriously would you play here? I would say about 99% of the players would laugh in his face |

Or undefined 'better players' that no one can confirm were even available let alone would consider LI. - keaner17
You got me there. Then again I'm not in the business to know who is available. That's the job of the GM. If the Isles prospects are all good enough and if Garth can find room for all of them then more power to him. |

I can agree with SES here. Lubo was good because he's a definite upgrade to any of the guys from last year. But also a negative because he's in his later 30's, maybe only a yr left in his tank and had a very sub par year last yr. - brodydog29

if someone pointed a gun at your head and said im pulling the trigger unless u answer this question:
did you like the lubo trade or did you not like the trade??
whats your answer.... - LetsGoIsles
Not at $5.6M, regardless of the cap hit.
He'd never be more important/vital to the team as the 2nd highest paid player, Mr Tavares. It's just a cluster-f*ck because Garth went on vacation after he did his due diligence of "improving the team" in the off season, leaving other available Dmen to be signed by other clubs.
I'll say this, if the trade is valid and Lubo reports, he's not gonna be welcomed. At this point, they should try and trade him or put on waivers and eat half his salary/cap hit(we have the room) because he just became a cancer to the team. |

hope??
i wouldnt go that far. the guy is by no stretch a fan favorite at this point, but like chief pointed out, either was nabakov...isles are in no position to "hope" good players dont come here. - LetsGoIsles
Rephrase, I HOPE.
I dont want this guy. Period.
Not every Vet with a negative opinion of LI is gonna feel the way Nabby feels.
I was one of those who was open to giving Nabby a shot after he changed his mind and decided to report.
I dont have the same opinion for this guy.
I could be wrong but nevertheless. I HOPE the deal is VOIDED.
Isles are always talking about Character Players. This player is a character.

I would rather have seen them go after Souray, who at least was a solid player at one point and has a shot that is still to be respected. |

If anything comes of this. It's gonna be a draft pick or a future consideration. Not much else IMO.

In his last 6 seasons, he had 5- 40+ point seasons. 2011 he had a 67 point season. You can compare many players to the Islanders and make your point look good. Last year WAS a very sub par season for HIM, not the Isles D you mentioned. |

if visnovsky is subpar than what were all of the islanders defensive players considered??
beggars cant be choosers!!
if he were on the team last year, with those stats he would have been the BEST offensive defenseman on the teaam...clearly not subpar relative to what we have!! |

Agreed, which is why I find it no different than shaking your fist at the rain when it comes to complaining about the Viz trade and saying 'broadly' that we should have gotten someone else (not you specifically). Honestly, I wasn't huge on the Viz pick up but it was only for a year so I figured 'no harm'. But we've all seen this merrigoround long enough to know that these mythical 'other players' don't exitst as viable options for the Isles. Still, for every Paul Martin or Christian Ehroff, if we can convince a Nabokov (and maybe Viz) to contradict themselves by sticking around, that will help our PR for future UFA's as much as anything....other than actually winning, |

Obviously Visnovsky knows his capabilities best and realizes he is no longer a defenseman that can help the Islanders get better, and potentially make the playoffs. If Visnovsky does not have the confidence in himself, why should the Islanders? Lets hope this motivates Garth to go out and get a solid defenseman instead of someone who views himself as a has-been. - IwayMike

Do you believe that the Islanders are willing to spend near the cap ceiling and just can't get players to take their money, or do you think it's more than mere coincidence that virtually all of their moves seem to bring the team near the cap floor without going too far over? The answer to that is probably at least part of the answer to your question. If the goal is to comply with the floor and not go too far over it, then it doesn't matter what d-men are available, the Isles wouldn't pursue them with big offers if they're already near the floor. If you don't believe there's any salary constraints, and that the last several seasons hovering at the cap floor since the Lighthouse didn't get approved are just coincidence, then it makes sense to dig deeper and ask about who we should be pursuing. |

hahah what?!?!
2 part question for everyone looking for any reason to point their finger at wang/garth:
before any one this came out did ANYONE consider the isles were "settling" when they traded for LV or was it a good deal? was anyone upset about this trade in the least bit before this came out?? - LetsGoIsles
When the trade first came out this came out with it, then Visnovsky said the Isles were his first choice which I found suspicious. If his salary somehow winds up counting against the cap somehow I will call it the BS it was from the beginning. If not then it's a shat move by Snow not knowing enough about a situation or a player and knowing said players intentions. There's no way to doll this one up. |

Look back at UFA signings and trades since July 1. There were others.
The point being is that this could turn out to be just a waste of f'in time. |
