Chief a GM has to know the sitation of a player he is trading for. If Lubo does not have a no trade clause involving the Isles then Garth is not at fault. The Isles do not need anymore issues like this. - ses111
Both teams believed the NTC to be voided. He didn't invoke it when he was sent to Anaheim and both teams believe it won't hold up. There was nothing to check on, the clause was OLD and outdated.
** Edit: Technically it's not even a NTC. The clause just stated he's supposed to be presented with a list of 10 possible teams. |

Take your pick Kasper. NO wonder they let Viz go. Not to shabby a group. Dont know about this guy Guenin though. Must be depth. |

You mean like Nabokov? Who really gave us our only chance to win last year? Sure. He'll get, booed on opening night and deserve every second of it. Eventually he'll put up some points and all will be forgotten. Not saying I don't hate him for this, but we're not exactly in any position to be taking a moral high ground here. And especially not in any position to be blaming this on Snow. |

Snow and Wang get the blame for not making the Isles a better option for players. They should be bringing in better players than this guy and not settling. |

1)How do we know this?
2)Maybe he didn't invoke it because he agreed to the trade from LA to Anaheim. Or the Ducks were on his list.
Have these questions been answered or are they speculation at this point?
You know. Some of these players dont have a clue to what's included in their contracts. They leave it to their agents to attend to everything while they just follow blindly.
This entire mess may just be some failed communications between the Ducks, Viz and his agent.
But what is obvious is Viz wants no part of LI. So lets hope the deal gets voided. |

Are you saying sending back the 2nd rd pick we sent to the Ducks? Or Their 2nd rd pick in addition to us getting our 2nd rd pick back.??? - SCLI
isles should be compensated if the trade is voided being that they figured they found their 2nd pairing dman and now they have to go out and search for someone to replace him minus the month of time they just lost being that they "had" him already |

Because bringing in better players is just as easy as saying 'let's bring in better players'. |

Here comes it's impossible for the Isles to make trades to improve the team even though they have a great farm system. Next is the Isles cannot get a real coach because of the building. I'm sorry Wang and Snow have no blame for the decisions thay made it's all Kate Murray's fault. |

hahah what?!?!
2 part question for everyone looking for any reason to point their finger at wang/garth:
before any one this came out did ANYONE consider the isles were "settling" when they traded for LV or was it a good deal? was anyone upset about this trade in the least bit before this came out?? |

It's certainly more difficult when you put considerable spending restrictions on an already undesirable location...

1. Anaheim's contention will be that the clause only applied to Edmonton and was voided when he was dealt to the Ducks in 2010. This probably means the original language specifically referenced the Oilers responsiblity to honor his wishes.
We won't get the complete language until its reviewed by an arbitrator but it seems both teams felt confident the NTC was NOT a factor.

i wouldnt go that far. the guy is by no stretch a fan favorite at this point, but like chief pointed out, either was nabakov...isles are in no position to "hope" good players dont come here. |

It was a good deal. Universally regarded as one all over the NHL. That shouldn't be in dispute. The fact that they got him for just a 2nd round pick makes it an even better deal. |

To be fair I did not love or hate this deal. I wanted a better and younger dman brought in before the trade. I'm more upset with the state of the team that makes Vets want to back out and not play for the team. That is all Wang and Snow and the perception at how they run the team.No question the building is a huge problem. |

To be honest, I'm not sure just how much of this has to do with the Isles past management rep but rather that this guy wants to play ONE more year in the NHL and that's it. In his eyes, he wants one last shot at the cup before he goes home and plays in the KHL (or whatever). Suddenly he's told he's heading to a team that hasn't sniffed at the playoffs and at best is a bubble team this year. It's a similar situation as Nabby. It's not necessarily all about the Isles, but more about it not being a good fit for a players last gasp.
Either way, it's TERRIBLE for our exposure...unless he resigns next year |

Liked it. Again I'm more upset with the state of the team that even makes guy's want to back out. Lubo or no Lubo is not going to make a huge difference. Even if he has a change of heart and wants to play for the Isles it's a black eye the team does not need. |

I can agree with SES here. Lubo was good because he's a definite upgrade to any of the guys from last year. But also a negative because he's in his later 30's, maybe only a yr left in his tank and had a very sub par year last yr. |
