In the end I see viz staying in ANA, it's in his rights with the NTC. Just because he waived it once to be traded doesn't mean it doesn't restart once he's set |

I think the NHL should limit NTC, it just make the rich get richer (nyr) and the poor get poorer (CBJ) |

jesus tap dancing christ, what a (frank)ing farce.
Only Columbus could achieve this kind of loser status as a franchise. |

Its a real shame. - mighty13duck
It's also a shame ex-Isles greats have not spoken up about the Islanders plight and Bettman lets this go on. The Islander being treated like they are invisible is the worst. |

I see us finishing no more than 4 PTS ahead of last year with all the Atlantic's additions
Let's be real, Nashville can't afford webber,
Nash will have a 1C
Pens have a healthy crybaby back
Maybe we can sweep the devs to compensate since the isles killer is now in the west |

Exactly. How can the NHL let this go on? Shame on Bettman and the NHL for allowing this. Hate to sound like a complainer but when can we as fans actually have some good news? I have had enough of hearing about Philly, Pens, Rangers and bankrupt Devils making move after move. How much longer do we as fans have to wait? What happened to Snows big trade? or was that a way to sell more season tickets. |

It's not the fans "fault", but I will say this: a lot of the cr*p that is heaped on Wang and Snow is unfounded. Once again, here are the facts:
1. This team was worse than cr*p when Milbury left, treading 16th in the league water every year. I'd rather have hope for the future (which, unlike some of you, I do) than watch us get embarrassed in the playoffs in the first round every year. Some people still do not grasp just how badly Milbury f**cked up A LOT of things for this franchise, including and especially the chance for a new building in the same location.
2. Nassau County would be the biggest joke on Earth if it wasn't for the Town of Hempstead. I will repeat this once again: I remember clearly reading, in a Newsday issue at some point during 1991 (we have had not one, but TWO people named George Bush as President since then, just for one example of how long ago that is), John Pickett saying, "we need a new building." That was four owners ago, and they still play in the same f**king dump they did in 1991. To blame THAT on Charles Wang is utter ignorance of the facts at hand, sorry to say.
The bottom line is that Nassau is run by the Republican Party like 90% of the time, which means it's inherently corrupt (not because they're Republican, but because putting any ONE party in charge of anything for that long is pretty much the definition of the word corruption). Not to mention, when the Democrats, on those rare occasions, get to be in charge of ANYTHING, they act like the evil b*stard stepchildren of the family, enacting sabotage at every turn. They don't seem to grasp that the way to outdo the opposition is to do BETTER things, not just whatever makes the Republicans look like fools- that doesn't do ANYONE any good, and it's why Nassau County is a f**king mess- never mind the Nassau Coliseum. The best thing that can ever happen to this franchise is to get the he11 out of there, ASAP. Leave them drown in their cesspool by themselves.
3. Yes, Quebec is in hockey crazy Canada. Yes, it deserves A franchise. However, there is one thing you MUST take into consideration: the TV contract lasts A LOT longer than the lease. That is a gold mine; always has been, and always will be. Here's another thing: more people live in a square mile area in Brooklyn than live in Quebec and all of its surrounding areas. Put a good team in the Barclay's Center, and they'll not only reconfigure it, it will be packed, every night, with people from all over the city AND Long Island. Not to mention that EVERY Russian player in the league will want to play there.
This is why you can't blame it on the fans- if the team was worth going to see, you'd not be able to get a ticket, especially if it plays somewhere that more people can get to easily. Sorry to say, but the Nassau Coliseum is in a bad spot- no public transit, no nothing. Brooklyn would be a gold mine, and the ONLY thing that is stopping this no-brainer from having already been announced is that....Charles Wang.....the man you all hate with a passion.....desperately WANTS to keep them on Long Island, and he doesn't consider Brooklyn to be Long Island. I could be wrong, but I think he will work on that deal until he has no choice, IMO. Worst case, having that TV contract in a building where he can actually make money is not necessarily a bad thing.
4. The rebuild is taking forever, because no one wants to come here- until they're already here, and then they realize that Long Island is a nice place to live. Until then, all they think about is that decrepit dump. Until that changes, we will be stuck in the same boat- rebuilding from scratch, internally. It is what it is, and that's not Garth Snow's doing. To nitpick every little thing he does is asinine. At least he's not building a mountain of feces like Milbury.

Who kept him as GM as he destroyed the team as every fan from casual to die hard screamed for his head while the rest of the league gasped? I agree Milbury was one of the worst GM's in sports history but in saying that you are condemning Wang. It was Wang who allowed him to be who he was. |

The TOH is the biggest joke. To say Nassau would be the biggest joke if not for the TOH is laughable(did I misinterpret this line?). It's not the biggest joke to blame it on Wang. The guy wants to build a city with in a city and won't budge. Being the Long Islander that he portrays himself to be he should understand that not in a million years would he be allowed to build it here. I agree with a lot of your post but the Wang in shining armor routine is draining. |

Boomer Esiason on his radio show mentioned this morning "when the Islanders move to Brooklyn, they should get Ovechkin." Not so farfetched...why not get Semin for two years and show you want to put a competitive team on the ice. Now's that's a concept. |

It would matter who is running the team... the people there don't want it.
They could be the best team in the league... there's still no support. - jimmc7722
Nonsense. Funny, I bet people said the same thing about the New England Patriots when no one went to those games post-1986 and the team was almost moved to St. Louis. Once they became the best team in the league, all of that was magically forgotten and the folks in Boston are "the best fans in sports" now. |
