I hear you. But if I'm the Flyers, I don't pay it any mind right now.
- MJL

it might backfire on them, seeing that the rangers got their target with an average package. maybe holmger feels this gives him some psychological leverage.

I agree, it was a good trade for the Rangers end. They addressed a definite need, especially with Gaborik's surgery likely keeping him out until Christmas
- Jsaquella

But when he is healthy. Nash Richards Gaborik

Nicely done. However according to hb CPA's the Weber contract can be handled at ease. Just ask Mr. Wilson he has it.

given that outlay of cash, they'd probably have to let it sit. that can cause even more problems though, which is my point. rip the band-aid off now and get it over with.
- hammarby31

True, but I'm just kicking options around. Their free agent situation next summer is the big problem.

Next summer they have Hornqvist, Spaling, Smith, Yip, Halischuk, Klein and Josi to re-sign.

The Flyers are about to get an elite defenseman, maybe for four 1st rounders that are likely to be late round picks. If not that, then maybe a package very similar to what the Rangers gave up to get Nash.

I'd also disagree that they don't need Dubinsky or Anisimov. With Prust and Dubinsky gone, they won;t have as much sandpaper in the third and fourth lines. They did add Asham, but he's not as skilled as Dubinsky or as consistent as Prust.

They also now need somebody to step in and be the 2nd line center. Anisimov had good chemistry with Stepan and Gaborik. Do they move Stepan to center? See if Boyle can play on the 2nd line?

The Rangers will have some tinkering to do, and they did shake up their chemistry a bit.

I would place the Rangers as the SC favorites. They have deep defense and a fantastic goalie. And now Nash and Richards and Gaborik. Pretty awesome.

If we get Weber, we should be right there.

And they still have plenty of Cap space. They are probably in on Doan.
- MJL

I'm sure they would be.

you have to understand that some posters here have a rapport with each other from years of interaction. What's funny for one guy to say to another isn't the same for everyone.

i wouldn't count on gaborik. he's fragile. didn't do much in the playoffs either iirc. nash could take some time to get his game together. big stage, that msg.

yea the horseshoe fell out of Hanks butt in the conf-finals and the odds are going to swing right back against them. I saw those players take shots to places on their bodies that should end seasons last year. Let's see that hold up.

I agree. If I was Nashville I would likely not match, based on the financial information at hand. Of course, that could be incorrect, but if it is, I don't see sustainability.

I'd take the picks. If Holmgren was willing to trade me assets for them, I'd want two out of Voracek, Simmonds, B. Schenn, L. Schenn & Meszaros, and one out of Read, Gustafsson or MAB for 2 or 3 of the first rounders.

Say I get Voracek & Meszaros and 2 1sts. I immediately try to get a guy like Bouwmeester for one of the firsts and a prospcet/pick. Solidify the defense for a few years, work my own kids into bigger roles, like Josi and remain competitive.

hell, they should have lost to the caps in the 2nd round. i was amazed at their ability to continue to play while blocking shots like that.

That may be an understatement. Regardless, the mods should make the same claims as the Fox network. Fair and balanced.

I would not apply my next statement to anyone here, but being an emotional wreck or biased or a little bit of a psycho is not a good trait for a judge, referee or similar type.
