bc of the offersheet circumstances or just in general? if they offered Weber for say Couts and a pick during last season would you have bit?

Give them Shelley and Walker. Saves the Flyers Cap space and gets Nashville closer to the floor.

I'm going to be aggravated if the Flyers give up a package, It's my belief Nashville isn't willing to match this front loaded OS.

- PLindbergh31

All depends on the Flyers level of interest for Weber at this point. Are they willing to walk away and not get him at this point?

I been pretty firm to stand pat. I also dont have a problem if Homer makes a trade but I wouldn't give up a lot as I feel the Flyers are in the drivers seat.

who am i to say... i have no idea. i want to keep both. but as it stands right now i'd put couturier in the untouchables category. sometime put it very nicely the other day, as a 19 year old in his first playoffs he shut down freaking malkin in a ridiculously high scoring series. at 19.

I don't want them to go either. I love the idea of brothers on the same team. Obviously that has nothing to do with hockey but it's cool nonetheless.
- NickTheKid87

Like I said. I'm sure this is going to come down to what is the trade. Obviously DP wants Schenn or Couts. Homer likely doesnt want to give them up. If I'm Homer I work any deal that DOESNT include Schenn or Couts. Otherwise let them match. What I would like is to see V, Mez, Read and a 1st go for Weber, then sign Doan.

Coots is better than schenn. He would've gone #1 in the draft if he had not gotten injured. His ceiling is higher also IMO

for sure

then i'll ask if you wouldve done Couts and a pick at the beginning of the offseason, before the whole offer sheet thing and the potential leverage it might have given the Flyers?

I think it's not that easy. I think Brayden has more offensive upisde and above-average defensive ability while Couturier has decent offensive upide but very strong defensive abilities. Brayden will likely score more points each season maybe by 10-15 points but Couturier is stronger defensively

I like Schenn better despite how well Couts played. Everyone is Woo'ed by Couts right now, but lets not forget Schenn and everything he has done prior to his injury riddled season. Couts have a great defensive game, but his offense needs help. What I like about Schenn though is he hits hard and has sandpaper to his game, along with having the potential to be a huge goal scorer.

I prefer Nashville matches and the Flyers go about their off-season as opposed to gutting the roster. If Nashville doesn't match and they get Weber for the 4 picks I will be ecstatic.

When the lost Hartnell and Timonen, they were still an up and coming team. Now they are team that has built up a decent fan base and ticket sales. The situation was different then, then it is now.
- MJL

True, there is certainly more revenue at risk now, but the franchise has shown they can build something even after losing two key players, with shaky fan support at the time. The only point I'm trying to make is while losing Weber will certainly cause some fans to sour on the team, I don't see it being this long-term death sentence that others have suggested.

I would offer them Voracek, Mez, plus instead of the pick, and if they dont take that, let them match.

the gutting angle comes if jake goes, in addition to the era and jagr he gone. wing will be pretty gutted.

I would have only because I think Weber will have a bigger impact for the Flyers than Couts in his prime + who ever the 1st turns out to be.

The team is already down two of their top 9 forwards from last year, if Voracek, Schenn, Read, or Couturier are dealt that puts them down 3 of their top 9 forwards.

Figure on the normal amount of injuries to Briere etc... all of a sudden scoring is a legitimate concern.

gotcha

but id think they'd be able to make some additional moves to fill some of those holes. and you'd have Weber for life which could help me deal with a short term hit to the wing position

For what it's worth, Shea Weber had more points than Schenn, Read and Couts last year and the same as Jake but scored 1 more goal.
