I expect you've read this already but interesting article. I think Campbell is MF ing insane to think we'd allow the Preds to take our 4 1sts, Cooter, Coburn Grossmann, Laughton and Gustaffson for not matching Weber and a 3rd.. I mean WTF??

Also, the article says that Poile has indicated that there is no way the Preds can match front loaded contracts..

Yeah campbell's an idiot, maybe only surpassed by proteau. Thn has gone downhill big time over the years and i'm not sure how they stay in business.

I think you are the closest to what is actually being plotted out behind the scenes. I think Schenn/Schenn and a #1.
- spatso

I am ok with that. It's not PS3 NHL 12 and this is Shea Weber.

I think your putting way too much weight into there not being a press conference for Luke Schenn. No one knows what the players prior schedule is like. Holmgren knew of the possibility of losing Carle. As well as knowing he was going to try and better the team.
- MJL

I wasn't trying to come off as putting a lot of weight to no Luke press conference but just that it was interesting because when this first offer sheet came out, I immediately thought a "Gratton type" trade would have to happen for Nashville to decline to match and maybe that could be part of the reason there wasn't a press conference just yet.

I'd approve but I really don't know if Homer would.

Off topic, big time. Also a little raunchy but since nobody here really knows me here it goes. MUST READ.

Have you ever had really bad food poisoning? Well this morning I got sent out to do a few lawns (work for Weedman), in a town roughly 40 minutes away. On the way my stomach started to get crazy pains, and I felt like throwing up but thought I would just get through it.

Within 5 minutes of town I knew there was danger. I sped toward the nearest gas station and ran inside, looking for the nearest bathroom. I spent 30 minutes in there, and waged a battle of epic proportions. Threw up once as well.

I figured it was all over, and while I felt weak decided to get started with my day. 5 minutes into the first customers house it happened again. However this time I had no muscle control and no time to even get to the truck. It just hit me. So in my haste, while trying to remove my belt there was mass leakage into my work pants, and furthermore on to the customers lawn.

The guy just happened to come home at that time, however I do not think he noticed or knew what had happened. I quickly told him I felt too sick, and was unable to do his lawn today.

A 40 minute drive back to Winnipeg sitting in my shame and fecal matter.

Happy Monday.

Well sometimes i like reading their articles, but this one was SOOO far out in left field.. I mean God. Give up essentially 6 1sts and all our prospects for Weber?

To assume that the way we are acting is anyway indicative of how Holmgren is thinking is utter folly. I think this delay has more to do with Nashville's financial predicament and/or protocol than Poile trying to get Holmgren to become desperate.
- NickTheKid87

Actually, I believe Poile and Holmgren know the two or three possible scenarios that will end this on Wednesday. I don't think there is a lot of things to discuss. The time is needed to allow everyone to get comfortable with what is going to happen.

Your last sentence is 100% correct. There cannot be any inducements or considerations other than what is provided for in the offer sheet.
- spatso

From the CBA
(b) If the Prior Club gives the Restricted Free Agent and his Certified Agent,
if any, notice, in accordance with Exhibit 3 hereto, that it is exercising its Right of First Refusal (a "First Refusal Exercise Notice"), such notice to be substantially in the form of Exhibit 7 attached hereto, to the Player's and his Certified Agent's, if any, address or facsimile number listed on the Offer Sheet, if any, within the seven (7) day period, such Restricted Free Agent and the Prior Club shall be deemed to have entered into a binding agreement, which they shall promptly formalize in an SPC, containing: (i) all the Principal Terms (subject to subsection (e) below); and (ii) such additional terms as may be agreed upon between the Restricted Free Agent and the Prior Club. The Prior Club may not Trade that Restricted Free Agent for a period of one year from the date it exercises its Right of First Refusal.

The offer sheet simply defines the money, how it is paid out and the term of the deal. Other terms may be added, such as NTC's, upon completion of the final SPC

(e) For the purposes of this Article, the Principal Terms of an Offer Sheet are limited to the term, Paragraph 1 Salary and Signing Bonus and Reporting Bonus the New Club offers to the Restricted Free Agent (currently and/or as Deferred Compensation in specified installments on specified dates) in consideration for his services as a hockey Player under the SPC

Maybe I am in the minority, but I would do Schennx2 plus 2 firsts for Weber.
- MBFlyerfan

I would rather not. A combination of Vor and Mez plus would be my offer until real late. If it doesnt look like that is working I would do Couts and Mez, but no higher. I dont want to move the Schenns.

Imagine if the Flyers would of picked Olli Maatta with their pick instead of Laughton.....I bet the Preds would of been more then happy to get him as one of the trade pieces and it would of given the flyers a better chance at keeping Couts and Schenns!!!!!!

Claude Giroux is one and probably Sean Couturier will be one which would make Schenn expendable to a certain extent.

Once again a lot depends on just how bad the Flyers want Weber. Homer could feel that his offer sheet could get the job done. He may also think he needs to trade but only at the cost he was willing to pay originally before the offer sheet was sent.

To me I would like to keep Mez. Before his injury plagued season last year he was arguably the best d-man aside from Pronger.

I wouldn't be giving Nashville jack poop. If they want to match they are allowed to do so and risk the future of the franchise.

If not they can take the four 1st rounders and be happy.
