FINALLY… the KJ has come back to the CBJ!!
Kent Johnson was recalled this morning from the Cleveland Monsters, where he had 15 points in 10 games with the minors. Johnson was on fire and had some highlight reel goals, most notably a shootout deke.
CBJ PG24 - Mal
The Columbus Blue Jackets lost a must win game against the Montreal Canadiens by the final score of 4-2. All six goals were scored in the final 40 minutes, in a wild ride to the finish.
Period II
Patrik Laine opened the scoring for his fourth goal of his shortened season unassisted.
Alex Newhook evened the game at one for his seventh as a Hab from Kaiden Guhle and Nick Suzuki.
Yegor Chinakov responded after a great last game with another goal for his third of the season from rookie Dmitri Vokornov and Zach Werenski off a beautiful rebound out in front.
Cole Caufield brought the road time back to another tied game for his seventh of the season from Christian Dvorak and Juraj Slafkovsky.
Period III
Joel Armia had the eventual game winning goal late in the third for his second of the season with the assists to Michael Matheson and Justin Barron.
Gustav Lindstrom potted the eventual game winner for his second as a Canadien from Matheson.
Goalies
Samuel Montembault had 26 saves on 28 shots for a 0.929 save percentage.
Elvis Merzlikins had 28 saves on 31 shots for a 0.903 save percentage.
Players to Watch
Josh Anderson - continues his worst pro season. He has 2 shots on goal with 16:17TOI and was a +1. He has only had one assist in the last 20 games.
Dmitri Vokornov - had an assist for his 11th point in 18 games. What a start for the rookie.
Storyline
The third line of kids has been figuring things out lately, with Yegor Chinakov, Cole Sillinger, and Dmitri Vokornov combining 6 points in the last 2 games, +11. The penalty kill also continues to be near the top of the league at 89.2%.
