The Blackhawks announced their roster for the 2023 Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase, which takes place this weekend in Minnesota. The Hawks prospects will play games against prospects from the St. Louis Blues (9/16/23, 6 p.m. Central) and Minnesota Wild (9/17/23, 3 p.m. Central) with both games being streamed on the Hawks Website. This is always a fun little series that helps scratch the itch of no hockey and also gets to take a look at some of the younger players that might not get a big look come training camp and preseason.
T
he Hawks roster looks like the following:
Forwards
Connor Bedard, Colton Dach, Jiri Felcman, Ryan Gagnier, Gavin Hayes, Nick Lardis, Paul Ludwinski, Marcel Marcel, Martin Misiak, Alex Pharand, Ryder Rolston, Lucas Romeo, Antti Saarela, and Samuel Savoie
Defensemen
Nolan Allan, Lucas Brenton, Louis Crevier, Ethan Del Mastro, Wyatt Kaiser, Kevin Korchinski, and Andrew Perrott
Goalies
Drew Commesso and Mitchell Weeks
There are a lot of names that we have been talking about over the last year or so that are going to be getting in on the action this weekend. To be honest, I am a little surprised at the inclusion of Bedard in this showcase. I feel like he doesn’t need to be out there, and there is a lot at risk by playing (Colton Dach got a concussion in this showcase last year and had a tough time getting over it). But as I have been saying all this time, trust the process and trust KD.
I am really excited to get a chance to see players like Dach, Savoie, Allan, Del Mastro, Korchinski, and Commesso. We have had small glimpses of these players already, so getting a chance to see how they have progressed will definitely be worth tuning in. I am also excited to watch players like Marcel, Kaiser, and Lardis. These are guys I know a little bit about but have yet to see a lot of their games. No matter who you are looking forward to watching, one thing is clear: the prospect pool is deep and going to be good. What makes it even better is that it still doesn’t include Nazar and Moore. Oh boy, I feel sorry for the rest of the league in a few years because this Hawks team could be a problem.
