Calgary Flames (26-25-5, 57 pts) vs Boston Bruins (34-12-11, 79 pts)

Last Ten: Calgary (5-5-0) Boston (5-3-2)
Time: 7:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.
TV: Sportsnet One, Sportsnet West, NESN, ESPN+

Let's start this out in possibly the worst way. Who remembers the Bruins 4-3 OT win over the Flames a little over a year ago on Feb 28, 2023?

A few memory queues:

-The Flames outshot the Bruins 57-20.

-18-2 in even strength high danger chances.

-An egregious hit from behind from Boston’s Charlie McAvoy on Flames center Nazem Kadri led to an overtime change in possession. No call on the play, the NHL didn’t even record it as a hit.

Good times. It’s worth bringing up due to the similar nature of tonight’s affair. The Bruins roll into town fresh off a win over the Oilers in Edmonton. Last year it was a 3-2 win over the Oil. This year it’s a 6-5 OT win. In both instances, the Bruins are playing their third game in four nights.

Odds

Vegas clearly learned their lesson from Feb 28, 2023.

Scheduling isn’t the only handicap that the Bruins are dealing with.

Hanifin’s Tryout?
The left side of Boston’s blueline has imploded over the last week. First with a suspected knee injury keeping Hampus Lindholm off their road trip. Oilers center Ryan McLeod then added fuel to the fire last night with a slash on Matt Grzelcyk. The 30-year-old defenceman left the game and did not return following a slash from Oilers center Ryan McLeod.

Trade winds have been blowing in Boston around a Noah Hanifin acquisition for most of the season. Could the smooth skating LD depart from Calgary tonight on the Bruins charter?

Kuzmenko Drama
Andrei Kuzmenko has gone from scoring a goal in each of his first two games to recording just a single point in his next five with the Flames. In what may be a low with his new organization, the 28-year-old played most of last game on the fourth line with Kevin Rooney and Walker Duehr.

The former 39 goal scorer moves back to the first unit tonight alongside Jonathan Huberdeau and Yegor Sharangovich.
